July 21, 2017 - Our Union recognizes when WARN notices are handed out, it can be one of the most stressful times our members face. We understand Boeing put out an email to members on Thursday, July 20 stating there would be WARNs issued on July 21. That communication has caused a lot of frustration for members because our Union hadn’t posted numbers, seniority dates, job classifications for WARNs.
It is important for us to explain what drives the union to post information. We post information when we get accurate lists from Boeing of actual WARN notices handed out. We only receive this information from Boeing after WARN notices are handed out.
For the July 21 cycle of WARN notices, we received an accurate list by job classification and seniority date after 1 p.m. on Friday, July 21. We have a process to go through, verify seniority dates, look for problems and manually place that information into a format to post. Our priority is to ensure whatever information we post is accurate.
We also know some members were scheduled to be laid-off today. We won’t know the actual number of layoffs until next week because Boeing was working up to the last minute to place individuals. Again, as soon as we have the accurate list, we will get it posted.
