Contract Update - Monday June 30th 2008

All subcommittees will report out to the Main Table on July 2nd of their respective progress. Also on that day, both the union and the company will get an in depth presentation on the IAM National Pension Plan <http://www.iam751.org/contract08pages/pension.htm> . The union has proposed the IAM National Pension Plan in addition to improvements in the Boeing basic monthly pension benefit and alternate pension formula.

On any given day throughout the month of July and August, our sub-committees will be meeting with their respective company committee representatives. Your union negotiators are working hard to get the Company to focus on the actual solutions to the contract language you have identified as needing improvements. Time is running out for the company to start making progress on your issues.

Although some committees have tentative agreement on a handful of non-economic issues, the reports we are getting back is that the company seems to be stalling on the big issues. With your help, we will keep the pressure on the company to move in the right direction. Tell your manager to send a message to the company side negotiators that they need to start showing serious movement on your issues and you are ready and willing to do what is necessary until those issues are addressed.

Reach out to each other and talk about solidarity and what it means. When we all stick together and support each other, we prevail. The single most important show of solidarity is for every member to attend the strike sanction meeting/solidarity event on July 16th. You should all have received a mailing with additional information.

ShareValue Trust

At a time when Boeing is posting record profits, backlogs and orders, why does the stock drop dramatically just as tens of thousands of employees are scheduled to get a ShareValue payout based on the stock? Coincidence? One has to wonder.

The simple fact that the stock is tanking is reason enough in this round of bargaining to negotiate a different type of ShareValue system that gives our members more money and control of the triggers for the payout.

Note: The Company will issue formal notification on the exact amount of the ShareValue payout on July 14th; however, we all know it is considerably less than it should have been considering all you have done to make this Company successful.

Finally, enjoy your negotiated holiday as you celebrate our nations independence. Be safe.

In Solidarity,
Your Union Negotiating Committee
