Survey Results
We want to thank the nearly 15,000 members for participating in our instant online surveys.
86% of our members taking the survey said they preferred a guaranteed pension plan instead of a 401k plan for future hires.
84% said the $1.28 for minimum rates was not enough and were willing to strike over that issue.
80% said they would be willing to strike over selling out our children and the future hires on Retiree Medical.
We will voice your resolve on these issues to the Company.
Main Table Report Out
Today, we met with all of the subcommittees to get a report out on their progress since our last reports. Not much has changed. Most committees are still finding the Company to be either stalling to get to the hotel to deal with the economic 'meat and potato' issues or they are still "not interested" in addressing your issues.
Keep up the great work of getting the attention of management, you are showing them you are serious. One of the ways we are going to get this Company to start addressing your issues, is to keep sending that message to your managers. Tell them to step up and share their 13 billion dollar wealth you helped create so they can continue to deliver airplanes.
In the Benefits Committee today, Boeing continues to show no interest in making any improvements in health care and seems intent on shifting more cost onto our members. This is totally unacceptable.
The Union reiterated to the Company our members' resolve and support of pension and retiree medical for future hires and emphasized our members will not sell out future hires or the next generation of members.
The Workforce Subcommittee reported they have tentatively agreed to improvements in Article 14 - Seniority, which increased recall rights from current levels. Although an improvement, it still does not take away from the fact we need strong job security language so our members are not depending on recall language for their jobs.
Issues on the table
Most all of the economic issues are still on the table. We've talked about just a few of those issues in our recent updates, but we want to make it clear to our members that all the issues members have identified are being discussed and will be dealt with in these negotiations.
Buy Your Vote
We just want to point out and ask our members to be cautious of a last minute attempt from the Company to buy the contract. Remember, thanks to you, they have made 13 Billion dollars recently and have plenty of cash on hand. They may attempt to throw just enough of this money at the
contract to appeal to just 1/3 of the membership. The big bonus is there to direct your attention away from other areas of the contract that are unacceptable.
What good is a General Wage Increase or Bonus if the other elements of the contract cost more than your gains?
Your negotiating team will make a recommendation based on the overall contract as a whole. This recommendation is not taken lightly and is only made knowing the full depth of benefit or harm a contract holds.
We've communicated with you about Company tactics of just going after 1/3 of our members to back in to a substandard contract, please take a few minutes of your time to explain what that means to each other. Ultimately it is up to you and your vote. We do ask that no matter which way you vote on the proposal, always vote yes to strike so we never have to back into a contract like we did in 2002. We do that and we can take that tool away from the company.
Let's stay united, support each others issues and TOGETHER, WE WILL BE SUCCESSFUL.
It's Our Time!
