Busy Day Tomorrow/Today
Management will be out in force on Tuesday as you return from the Labor
Day weekend. They will be holding captive audience meetings trying to sell
you on this offer. Although Boeing can force you to go, it is very important
you document what is said in those meetings and report them to ULP@iam751.org.
One of the reasons we are recommending striking this Company is due to their
unlawful acts during these negotiations.
You have to read the fine print when the Company attempts to show how wonderful their offer is. It is important you understand the implications of your vote. We recommend voting NO on the offer and YES to strike. It is vital we send a strong message to Boeing with a resounding YES vote to strike and force Boeing back to the bargaining table. The Company believes 1/3 of our members will not vote to strike. We ask for your help to talk the need for a 2/3’s strike authorization with your co-workers so everyone understands what this means.
COLA
The Company talks about a $ .37 cola that is already part of your pay (generated
ealier in the year), they will just be folding it into your base rate when
the appropriate time comes. The COLA generated for the months May, June
and July of 2008 resulted in $.40 which has not been paid and is not part
of the company's final offer. Management may try and confuse you on the
COLA in these captive audience meetings. Just ask them a simple YES or NO
answer to this question. “Is the COLA of $.40 generated for the months May,
June and July of 2008 included in this offer? If the answer is anything
but “No,” we want to hear about it.
Our Recommendation
We will distribute a flier with our recommendation. If you are not sure
how the vote works, follow the recommendation on our flier and we can send
a strong message to the Company with a resounding YES vote to strike. The
higher the percentage YES vote, the stronger the message. The Boeing Company
needs to see you are serious, because they sure are acting like they know
best.
Reminder
Many of you will be marching to the halls to vote on Wednesday, be sure
to bring your eligibility cards to avoid the long lines for good standing
cards. The Company has plans to provide shuttles to the polls. They’ve never
done this in the past, so why would they start now? “Forget the bus, March
with us” is just another way to send a message to the Company you are insulted
by their tactics.
Keep up the great work in the shops, we will win this thing one way or another.
