Strike Update September 16, 2008

Standing your picket duty is the only way to show our collective strength to the Company. Therefore, it is important to serve picket duty at the time and date assigned. At this time, no new talks have been scheduled, but the Union continues to talk to the mediator every day and push to get Boeing back to the table to address your issues.

Many members have asked questions about the Voluntary Investment Plan (VIP). Below are some of the typical questions we have received.

Q. While on strike what happens with my VIP loan payments? Are the monthly payments still required?
A: Loans can be repaid during a strike situation; however, it is up to you as to whether or not you make these payments. These are payments of your loan that go into your account. You can make up any late payments after a strike as long as they are done within the terms of your loan.

Q: How do I make a manual payment on my VIP loan or process VIP transactions?
A: If you would like to make a manual payment to your VIP loan, you can send a check with your name, social security number and loan number payable to State Street Bank at: CitiStreet, Boeing Savings Plan Administration, PO Box 5166, Boston, MA 02206-5166. Payment may be made by cashiers check, money order, or personal check. However, if you do send a personal check, there will be a 21-day hold placed on your account that prohibits any new loan or withdrawal transactions. For more information regarding your VIP or to process transactions, please call TotalAccess at 1-866-473-2016 and select "Savings" from the main menu. Members can also access their accounts on the Savings Plans online website at https://my-ext.boeing.com and click on Boeing Savings Plans. You will need your BEMSID (or SSN) and your TotalAccess password to access your account.

Q: Can I take out a loan on my VIP during a strike?
A: Yes - however you still have to meet the criteria for loans per the plan documents. This is your money, and you can still withdraw it as normal. Hardship withdrawals may be requested once an employee has been absent without pay for 15 consecutive business days or more. For more information regarding your VIP, please call TotalAccess at 1-866-473-2016, or online Web site at https://my-ext.boeing.com and click on Boeing Savings Plans. You will need your BEMSID (or SSN) and your TotalAccess password to access your account.

Q: Is there a limit on how many VIP withdrawals a participant can make or a waiting time between withdrawals?
A: No - there is no limit or waiting time. As long as you meet the requirements for a withdrawal, you may apply as often as needed.

Q: Can I make contributions to my VIP account while on strike?
A: No - Federal regulations prohibit making additional manual contributions to qualified plans such as the VIP.
