Strike Update - October 4, 2008
Special thanks to all the members who volunteered today to help assist with the strike check distribution. Their assistance ensured our members received their checks in an orderly fashion with literally no waiting.
District 751 President Tom Wroblewski visited all three check distribution locations today to visit with members and answer their questions. He reported there are a lot of rumors and encouraged members to check our web page often (www.iam751.org). Tom reported there are no talks going on at this time because Boeing is still unwilling to change their last and final offer. When the talks resume, Boeing needs to start by improving their last and final offer. To this point, they have not been willing to do that. As soon as the Union goes back to the table, the membership will be notified of this change.
New Picket Duty Cards
New picket duty cards were mailed out for those reporting to Seattle, Renton and Auburn locations. Unfortunately, several of the picket dates have already occurred before the cards reached the members. If your first assignment date on the new card has already passed, simply report for your next assigned picket duty. There is no need to call because we are aware it occurred.
Health Assessment Survey
One thing members can do to get a $50 gift card is take the Mayo Clinic Health Assessment Wellness survey. The survey takes about 10-15 minutes to complete online. The deadline to complete the survey is November 30, 2008. If you have already taken the survey, you are not eligible -- DO NOT TAKE THE SURVEY AGAIN. Spouses can take the survey, as well, so the family could be eligible for two gift cards. To take the assessment survey, go to www.BoeingWellness.com, your BEMSID is the access code. If you are a spouse, your authorization code is the Boeing employee's BEMSID plus a lower case "s" at the end (e.g. 123456s). Members reported receiving the gift cards just a few days after taking the survey.
Picket Line Photos
If you have any photos, you would like to submit for potential use in the Union paper, please e-mail your photos to: yourpowerinside@gmail.com. With so many members having digital cameras, we are hoping to get literally hundreds of picket line photos and pictures from the "behind the scenes" work in the kitchens, chopping wood and answering phones at the various Union halls. If you would like to also give a short quote on why you are out on the picket line, we will try to incorporate that into the paper as well.
Keep up the fight and help each other to stand proud and strong!
In Solidarity
