  • Washington Is the Clear Choice for NMA!
    Updated On: Jun 06, 2018

SEATTLE -- Washington State is the best location in the U.S. to design, manufacture and ensure a successful launch of Boeing’s next airplane, according to a comprehensive study performed by respected aerospace analyst Richard Aboulafia of the Teal Group.

Announced by Washington Gov. Jay Inslee and the Choose Washington New Mid-Market Airplane Council, the study used 41 common metrics to produce the most comprehensive, data-driven state-by-state aerospace competitiveness study ever done.

“Washington comes way out on top,” Aboulafia said during a press conference to release the study at South Seattle Community College. “People can look at the data themselves and get the same outcome.”

“Washington is not number one by accident. I feel strongly that our manufacturing infrastructure here is successful and has been made so because of the many stakeholders who have made important investments in our state over the last 100 years,” said District 751 President Jon Holden, who spoke at the event.

Holden emphasized the unique problem-solving culture of our aerospace workforce in Washington State. “We are never complacent. Even after delivering more than 10,000 737s over the last 50 years, we continue working on ways to improve the capacity and efficiency of the Renton production system. That is a testament to the skills and innovation of the workforce here in Washington,” Holden said.
