Work in the Accounts Management Operations is performed on the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Customer Service toll-free telephone system used by the public to resolve tax account issues and obtain information about tax administration.  Contact Representatives (CSRs) perform computerized or other research while providing telephone advice and assistance involving a wide range of tax processing and regulatory requirements for individual tax account filers.  IRS management in Seattle is currently hiring for this function.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:To be rated eligible, applicants must meet these requirements for the GS-05: Experience: Specialized experience is at least one year of full time customer service work experience with tax records, reports, documents, financial accounts or similar records involving the use of source documents according to established rules and procedures and requiring accuracy with numerical transactions, or, in interrelating many factual details, or other similar work related to customer service type positions involved in researching/adjusting customer accounts.  Part-time work (34 hours per week or less) will be prorated. Full-time work is 35to 40 hours per week. A combination of education and experience may qualify you for this position.

Education: 180 Quarter Hours (120 semester units) leading to a four-year degree may be substituted for the specialized experience. A combination of specialized experience and education beyond the first 90 Quarter Hours (60 semester units)will count toward the one-year of specialized experience. To qualify based on education, submit official transcripts or list of courses with credited hours,major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking.

This is a permanent, career-conditional appointment with a full time seasonal work schedule.  This position has promotion potential to the GS-0962-08 level based upon performance and qualification requirements.  

A seasonal work schedule means annually recurring periods of work expected to last less than 12 months each year. Management expects the work to last between six and seven months per year.  Full time means you will work a prescheduled tour of duty totaling 40 hours per week.

DUTIES
