VOTING PROCESS

Each member will be given a Ratification Ballot and a Strike Ballot.

The Ratification Ballot will be to vote toACCEPT or REJECT PEXCO offer. This vote must carry by a simple majority. If a majority of voting members vote to ACCEPT the Contract, the Contract is ratified.

The Strike Ballot will be a YES or NO vote to strike. If a majority of voting members vote to REJECT the contract, but LESS THEN TWO THIRDS vote to strike, the contract is automatically accepted by default per the IAM Constitution.

A Strike will only occur if a majority of voting members vote to REJECT the contract and     TWO-THIRDS (66 2/3%) OR MORE vote YES to Strike.

Once again, the IAM Constitution provides, in Article XVI, Section 2, that a secret ballot vote by the membership present and voting must carry by a two-thirds (2/3) majority in order to declare a strike. IAM policy further provides that thirty (30) percent of the eligible bargaining unit must participate in the strike vote.

Your negotiation committee, working on your behalf, recommends you accept this proposal. It’s the best package which could be negotiated short of a strike. It shows improvement in many areas identified by you, our members. This is a proposal to discuss it with your family prior to vote. While the negotiation committee makes a recommendation, ultimately, it’s up to each member to decide if the proposal adequately addresses your issues. We will continue working on your behalf welcome your input and feedback throughout the life of the contract.

Thanks again for your support. Your IAM Negotiating Team- Jerry Phillips, Juan Cano, Ben Schlaich, Chris Powers and Steve Warren.

Negotiation Update 8/17/2024

Dear Members:

Thank you everyone that participated in our union negotiation meeting on August 1, 2024 at the Yakima union hall.

Your committee discussed and heard feedback on the negotiation process. T-shirt orders and text blast cards.

We also handed out and discussed negotiation survival book, which helps explain how the negotiations process works.  We will also talk about YOUR role in this process, what you, as a member, you can do to help ensure success.  Additionally, there is a section in this Handbook to help you cope with the pressures and anxiety that we all experience during contract time.  We have also provided in this book an overview of members’ rights under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRB).  There is also a special section on frequently asked questions and answers that always surface during negotiations.

Keep one thing in mind: Together, standing strong as one Union and speaking as one loud voice, we can improve our standard of living.

The handbook is attached for your reference

In solidarity,

Your Negotiation Committee, Jerry Phillips, Juan Cano, Ben Schlaich, and Eddie Ramos. Chris Powers and Steve Warren.

Negotiation Update 7/5/2024!

 Dear Members:

April 4, 2024, your Union officially notified PEXCO Leadership Team for formal negotiations for this fall. We requested dates and times for both negotiation committees to meet. The Company responded, and we have confirmed dates of October 29-31 and November 5-7, 2024 to meet in Yakima.

Your Negotiation Committee will be Jerry Phillips, Juan Cano, Ben Schlaich, and Eddie Ramos. Subcommittee, Anthony Meyer, Manny Balderas, Don Wortman, Dave Adkins, and Business Representative Chris Powers and Business Representative Steve Warren.

In the next couple of months, we are preparing all-membership meetings, T-shirts orders, surveys, and will build proposals to present to the Company on your behalf.

Please review your collective bargaining agreement (CBA) and fill out a text message card. Please review the contract and note any changes you would like to have your committee address during bargaining. You can add comments to your surveys which will be out at some time in September. It is important you fill out your survey, this gives the Negotiation Committee input on what you would like to see in your Collective Bargaining Agreement. Survey information is critical in building proposals with items that you find most important.

This In solidarity,

Your Negotiation Committee, Jerry Phillips, Juan Cano, Ben Schlaich, and Eddie Ramos. Chris Powers and Steve Warren.
