Women's Committee Report - January 2004

On Saturday, December 13th, the District 751 Women's Committee was proud to deliver bags full of toys and gift certificates to 57 families and 143 children of our laid off brothers and sisters. You'll be pleased to know that even though some came in tears and others came with big smiles, no matter what mood they came in that day they certainly left happier than when they arrived. Due to the overwhelming generosity of our membership this year, our toy drive raised over $7,000 in cash and hundreds of toys were donated as well.

Many many thanks go out to those who donated to the drive, both in person and anonymously. However, some were especially helpful this year and we would like to thank them by name:

* Local C members Paul Fox and Jim Coats for their hard work and help in organizing and shipping us 143+ Boeing employee Christmas stockings.
* Union Stewards Judy Neumann, Kevin Mims, Chris Louie, and Connie Dang who rallied their shops, each of which made substantial cash and toy donations.
* Local Lodges A, C, E, and F, and the District Council delegates for allowing the stockings to be passed at each of their meetings. A special thanks also goes out to Local F who not only allowed the stockings to be passed but also passed a motion to donate $1,750.
* Nancy Holland-Young and Sandy Hatfield of the King County Labor Agency.
* Bill Borders and Davette Wakefield of the Snohomish County United Way.

Other individuals who also rate recognition for their help were:

Jennifer Millsaps
Stephanie Schuman
Jim Schwalm
Jerry Shreve
Tommy Wilson
Rob Woodworth
Ernie McCarthy
Shawn Diteman
Mike Diteman

Thanks to all of those who helped the Women's Committee make this such a wonderful and worthwhile event for the second year in a row. Happy New Year!
