Women's Committee Report - June 2007

First, we would like to thank the 55 volunteers who helped our Women's Committee make the 6th Annual 'Flight for Sight' Fun Run & Walk happen. We can't hold an event like this without all your great help that goes on in the background.

Second, we wanted to give special recognition to Union Office Solutions, our corporate sponsor who underwrote the costs of computer chip timing services this year. This made the race results more official and trophy awards accurate and efficient.

The IAM Women's Department sent a video crew to film at our event and a special news video was made for the IAM International's web site. You can view it on-line by going to the IAM Media Library. Clips of their filming from our Fun Run will be used in a video the Women's Department plans to produce later this year.

Our race was a benefit for that great charity-Guide Dogs of America. A new delegate to our Women's Committee, Debbie Anderson raised the most money in donations and even donated back her $100.00 prize for a total of $930.00. IAM 751 member Kelly Burrus-Haniger came in 2nd with $417.00 and also took 2nd place in her age category for the 5K race. And Denise Hubbs won 3rd place for her donations raised totaling $270.00. These winners deserve a round of applause!
Rain threatened but overall the weather cooperated for our Fun Run. And our effort was worth it because we raised approximately $9,000.00 for Guide Dogs! The Women's Committee depended on the time and talents of many-Brownie Troop 2047, the Everett Ham Radio Club, our corporate sponsors, volunteers, and runners to make this a great event and want to express our gratitude to everyone who helped us be successful! THANK YOU!
