WOMEN'S COMMITTEE REPORT - SEPTEMBER 2004
The Women's Committee would like to thank everyone who contributed to the recent school supplies drive. We had tremendous support from stewards, members, joint programs and our 751 leadership. The supplies are available to all laid off members in the Puget Sound. They are being distributed by the Puget Sound Labor Agency. Please see our website for the locations and times they can be picked up. We are so very happy that we could offer this kind of help to our laid off brother and sisters so their children are not left behind.
Also coming up Sunday, October 3rd is our 2nd year of participating in the Making Strides Againist Breast Cancer Walk. The walk is 5 miles and sponsored by the American Cancer Society. It is located at the Downtown Bellevue Park across from the Bellevue Square Mall. The walk starts at 9:00 AM and there is free parking across the street in the mall parking lot.
This year we are ordering t-shirts from the walk sponsors and they will print our team name on the back. We will provide the team t-shirt to our 1st 100 volunteers who sign up and they will be distributed on October 3rd at $15 a piece and $3 of each t-shirt sold will go towards breast cancer research.
And, lastly there are pledge forms on the back table so you can get your friends and family to donate pledges to your walk.
Please see our sign up sheet at the back table and as we get closer to October 3rd we will communicate more details on when and where our team will meet that day. Stewards will receive 2 hours volunteer credit.
Thank you for your continued support.
