Women's Committee Report - September 2007

Our Women's Committee is co-sponsoring the 'Making Strides Against Breast Cancer' Walk with the MVP Committee this year and there are two opportunities to volunteer at the walk on Sunday, October 14th. Route Marshals are meeting Justin Wieging at the Volunteer Tent at 7:30 AM and walkers are meeting at the fountain in Bellevue Park at 8:00 AM. To sign up for either of these, please call Kay Michlik at the Seattle office.

Also, we purchased 100 event t-shirts that are royal blue and long sleeved, with our wings and TEAM 751 printed on the back. We will be selling these for $15.00 when they are ready in October but you can reserve your size now by signing up in the back. Three dollars of the purchase price from each shirt will go to our TEAM 751 contribution to the American Cancer Society.

And last, our Women's Committee is joining with the Human Rights and Labor History Committees to co-host a Labor Education Conference about our future on Saturday, November 3rd here in our Seattle Hall. Click here for a flyer on the conference.

Featured as part of this conference will be a silent auction to benefit Friends and Families of Violent Crime Victims. This Everett based non-profit organization uses contributions to provide trained volunteer Victim Advocates for people in our state whose lives have been devastated by violent crime. The money raised by our auction goes to ensure that Families and Friends can continue to fulfill their mission of support and advocacy for all victims of violent crime, missing persons, and their lived ones and providing education about victims' rights and services. We hope to see you all there. Thanks.
