After the voting ends, the count will occur at each Union Hall or voting location. All vote totals will be called into the Seattle Union Hall for final tabulation. Once verified, the results will be announced at the Seattle Union Hall, on our website, and in the media.

Day 51 - Strike Update November 2, 2024
Machinists,
We have stood strong in the face of adversity, and I am proud of the significant gains that you have made. Over a decade of preparation and building our strength has brought us to this moment after enduring one of the worst contracts we had seen in generations.
Looking back at past agreements, it's clear after comparing them, how much we have achieved in the contract offer that sits before us today.
From 2002 to 2024, we saw 31.5% in General Wage Increases. Today, we’ve secured 38% over the next four years.
From 2012 through 2024, we saw a cost shift in healthcare onto our members. In this contract, we reduced the cost share with an immediate decrease in the monthly premiums.
From 2002 through 2021, we saw threats to our jurisdiction and to move airplane programs out of our state. In this contract, we achieved a commitment for the next airplane program when launched and a commitment to maintain the headcount in facilities and maintenance jobs.
In this contract offer, we have reduced designated overtime, achieved one set of progression in a career, improved short-term disability insurance, added paid parental leave, added eligibility for retirees for a post-65 Medicare Advantage plan, improved the 401k match, COLA will now also apply to minimum rates in the wage scale, secured a guaranteed 4% payout for the AMPP and many other improvements throughout the agreement.
During every negotiation and strike, we must continually evaluate where our leverage stands going forward. We believe that we have secured one of the strongest contracts in the aerospace industry. Many other bargaining units will be inspired by our strength and the results you all achieved.
This is truly the time to lock in these gains and work to build more in future negotiations. You can confidently declare victory, vote yes for this agreement, and build on this for generations to come.
We have built our leverage over the last 10 years to apply maximum pressure. Recognizing how powerful this bargaining unit is and deciding to secure these gains for the future is ensuring that every ounce of your power and leverage has been used to achieve this industry-leading contract.
We have accomplished an amazing agreement together. The decision to end this strike is right where it needs to be - in the membership’s hands. Allow yourself to capture this win and be proud of your sacrifice. Your entire bargaining committee believes it is time to settle this strike and move forward.
In Solidarity,
Jon Holden and your Union Negotiating Committee

IAM/Boeing Proposal for Contract 2024 October 31, 2024
Your Union is endorsing and recommending the latest IAM/Boeing Contract Proposal. It is time for our Members to lock in these gains and confidently declare victory. We believe asking members to stay on strike longer wouldn't be right as we have achieved so much success.
In every negotiation and strike, there is a point where we have extracted everything that we can in bargaining and by withholding our labor. We are at that point now and risk a regressive or lesser offer in the future.
This contract builds on everything achieved in the September 12, 2024, agreement, with the additional gains you achieved by going on strike. The two significant changes in this offer from the last one are:
38% GWI over four years - 13%, 9%, 9%, 7%, which compounds to 43.65% over the life of the agreement
The $12,000 ratification bonus combines the previous $7k ratification bonus and the $5K lump sum into the 401k. Now, members can choose how this total amount is received - in your paycheck, contribution to your 401K, or a combination of both.
We will vote on this proposal on Monday, November 4, 2024, and information on voting locations/times will be released later tonight. Please monitor your email for this information.
Day 48 - Strike Update October 30, 2024
Today, we continue to have discussions with the company, facilitated by Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su. The Union will keep negotiating with the company until we have a resolution to present to the membership.
A lot of members are asking what happens next. Once we have something that we believe is worthy of your vote, we will get it out to the membership immediately, as we have done in the past. We are pushing hard to bring you the best offer possible as quickly as possible, so please be sure that your email and contact information is up to date with the Union. If, for some reason, you aren't receiving emails, you can always check out the daily update here: Contract 2024 Page.
When we do come to a resolution, we will hold Zoom calls to field members' questions before any vote.
With the continued assistance of Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su, your Union bargaining committee had a productive face-to-face meeting with the company to address key bargaining issues. Your negotiating committee will continue to engage with the company to secure the best possible outcome for our members. We will keep you informed of new developments as they unfold.
Community support is the lifeblood of our fight, and we’re grateful to have businesses across our region standing with us. Whether it’s a post on social media, a hot cup of coffee, a stack of firewood, or an offer of temporary work, your contributions help us to hold the line for as long as it takes. We couldn't make the difference we are making without the community having our back.
Although this is just a partial list of the businesses that have gone above and beyond for our members, we need to thank you for all you have done to support our fight.
It seems as if we have gotten a load of firewood from every corner of the state, and believe me, it is appreciated, especially on cold nights and colder mornings. Your support ensures our members stay warm, and we couldn't do it without the wood dropped off at the various halls.
Local businesses have gone the extra mile for our members. Round Table Pizza in Lynnwood and Puyallup keeps spirits up with their yummy, generous pizza donations. Seattle Strike HQ has been the bearer of crates of produce from Artemis Farms in Woodinville and Goblin Farm in Woodinville. Just last week, IAM 751 members were gifted nearly 1200 pounds of grapes. Jersey Mike’s Subs have kept our people fed in Frederickson and CaveMan Kitchen in Kent made sure that no one walked the line hungry in Renton. SPEEA members show up weekly with items like sandwiches and water to every strike line, and the owner of Snohomish Vape and Brew makes sure to tell our story on social media to all who will listen.
And to those offering work - The New Mexicans Restaurant in Everett, Trophy Lake Golf Course in Port Orchard, Stoneway Roofing, and Secoma Lanes in Federal Way - you’re not just providing a paycheck; you’re offering stability to our members so they can continue this fight.
This isn’t just our fight - this is every worker's fight, and every community those workers call home will benefit in the end. All workers and their families deserve dignity and respect for what they do to make the places we live better for everyone. Thank you for standing with us in solidarity and for taking on this fight!
Your Union has been in communication with the U.S. Department of Labor in an effort to spearhead getting back to the table. As always, we will keep you informed of any developments.
Right now, our top priority is strength on the picket lines. Weather shouldn't stop you from picketing. It's a 24/7 job. Every member’s presence makes a difference; send a strong message and support each other by picketing. The stronger our lines, the faster we return to that negotiating table.
In the meantime, please stay vigilant about the information you read and hear. Social media and the internet are filled with misinformation. Make decisions based on verified facts, not rumors or gossip - your future and your family's future depend on it. Don’t let others choose for you; make your own choices based on what is true and what is best for you.
This week, district staff and business representatives will be engaging and listening to members on the picket lines. Take this opportunity to be heard, ask questions, and shape the path forward. Don’t hesitate to reach out, as your voices and input are needed.
Our fight is making headlines around the world. Workers are taking note of what we are doing in Puget Sound, Portland, Moses Lake, Edwards AFB, and Victorville. They are watching as we collectively make the decision to fight for a fair and equitable agreement, standing up as long as it takes to get what we deserve. We started this strike together, and together we will see it through.
For many members, years of saving in their Individual Strike Funds (ISF) have made this strike sustainable. For others, newer to both the job and the Union, the strike has been a learning experience like no other. We must remember to support each other. Although we stand shoulder to shoulder, our reasons for taking this stand differ. We can never let one of our own feel that their fight is less than another or not equal to another member's reason. Look out for each other. If you see someone struggling, reach out and see if you can help.
"Justice on the Job, Service to the Community" is more than the IAM’s motto; it’s our foundation. While we fight for justice by striking, our service to the community is reflected in how we uplift each other.
As we prepare for the next phase of negotiations, District Staff and Business Representatives will be at Strike HQ and the picket lines continuing to talk with you directly. We want to know what you think and what needs to be addressed in the next proposal. We will let you know as soon as we have information on the next scheduled negotiating session with the company.
As of today, our members have stood shoulder-to-shoulder on the strike line for more than six weeks, demonstrating a remarkable unity and shared purpose. We have witnessed inspiring acts of kindness and solidarity among our group daily, from food donations to covering picket duty and offering rides and comfort to each other. Your collective efforts are a testament to the strength of our union. For those making sure your Union Brothers and Sisters have what they need during this difficult time, we see you, and thank you for your sacrifices to fight for what is right and just.
With 64% of the members voting to reject this latest offer, we prepare for the next step in negotiations by continuing to gather information from the membership. Staff and Business Representatives have been at the Strike HQs and out on the picket lines, engaging with those holding the line about what they need in the next proposal. Since we just surveyed the membership a few days before the latest vote, we are analyzing that data again and preparing to use it in the next step.
While we can’t share the survey results publicly, which would give the company an unfair advantage, please know that wages and retirement security remain top priorities. Keeping this information within the union helps us maintain our leverage at the bargaining table, ensuring the company doesn’t gain insight into where we currently stand. Your input has given us a clear picture of where we stand collectively. Each of these priorities guides us as we work toward the next proposal.
As for the hardship fund, these monies are available to those in dire financial need. Please head to any Strike HQs to apply for hardship funds in person at any resource table. There, you can also find information on finding temporary work, food donation locations, health insurance options for striking workers, and more. The resource tables are set up at each Strike HQ from 10:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M., Monday through Friday. Remember, you are not alone in this. We are here to support you.
Over six weeks on strike, standing shoulder to shoulder for our future, our families, and our dignity. No one - not a single one of us - deserves to be bullied or disrespected because of how they voted last night.
Together, we stood up collectively and said enough. Together, we walked out. Only together will we make it through this storm and come out stronger on the other side.
Each one of us made a choice, using our voice, deciding what was right for our families. That power to choose, the right to choose, is at the core of everything we stand for. Respect. Fairness. A future that we decide, not one handed down to us from corporate boardrooms.
It’s fine to post on social media and to have your say on the line - hell, that's democracy. But let me tell you, bullying your brothers and sisters or tearing down the people who are in this fight with you is unacceptable. That’s not who we are. That’s not who we will ever be.
We will get back to the bargaining table and fight for every inch we can get. But don't make these negotiations more difficult by hurting the men and women who are standing by you, fighting with you, to achieve what we all need in this contract.
Last night, your voices were heard. All of your voices. The 64% who rejected the contract and the 36% who felt it was acceptable - you all matter. We are listening to every single one of you because you are part of this Union, and we won't leave anyone behind.
This strike isn’t just about a contract. It’s about respect, solidarity, and building the future we deserve. We have come too far, fought too long, to let anything weaken us now.
Tonight, IAM District 751 and W2 Members voted by 64% to reject the company's latest offer and continue the current strike. Here are the remarks IAM District 751 President Jon Holden gave during the announcement.
"This contract struggle began over ten years ago when the company overreached and created a wound that may never heal for many members. I don’t have to tell you all how challenging it has been for our membership through the pandemic, the crashes, massive inflation, and the need to address the losses stemming from the 2014 contract.
We have prepared for years to bring this membership back to a position of power and leverage, and we are there tonight. These negotiations, this strike, today’s vote - it’s a culmination of everything for many people, filled with emotions.
We have made tremendous gains in this agreement in many areas our members said were important to them. However, we have not achieved enough to meet our members’ demands.
Today, Members have voted to reject the company’s latest offer by 64%.
Our members have stood together, united. Members may have different needs and demands, but you all stand together, fighting for each other. Senior members with decades of experience, new members with a few months, and members from different backgrounds all stood together to support each other.
I’m proud of you and your strength.
This membership will continue to stand on the line, picketing for the contract they deserve. There is much more to do, and we will work to get back to the bargaining table.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 23, 2024, voting at all locations will be open from 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. unless otherwise stated. You will need a Photo ID - either a driver's license or your Boeing Badge - to vote. Anyone in line by 5:00 P.M. will be allowed to vote.
After the polls close, we will begin the count at each Union Hall and voting location. Each location will call its total into the Seattle Union Hall for final tabulation. Once verified, the results will be announced at the Seattle Union Hall, on our website, and in the media.
For our members in Moses Lake, you will vote at the Grant County Fairgrounds located at 3953 Airway Drive NE, 4H Building, Moses Lake, WA 98837, open from 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.

It's so important to base your decisions on facts rather than rumors or speculation, especially when it comes to something as crucial as voting for your future. Whether you choose to accept or reject the contract, your Union is committed to making sure you have the correct information to make a decision that best serves you and your family. Please take the time to review the details of the entire proposal thoroughly - the September 12th and October 18th offers combined - and reach out to your Union officials, Stewards, or financial advisors if you have questions. Your decision matters, and it's essential that it's made with clear, accurate information. The power is in your hands; make it count.
Prepared by an economist, the document linked below offers a clear breakdown of how your earnings can grow over the life of this agreement. It includes examples of wage increases for each Labor Grade at max pay, covering both base pay and the guaranteed 4% AMPP. This guide is meant to help members understand the impact of compounding wages.
Our goal is to combat some of the misinformation circulating on social media and in the press. Please use this resource to make an informed decision based on facts, not rumors. If you cannot access this document, you can find it on the website at www.iam751.org/2024StrikeProposal along with other one-pagers explaining what's being offered in the 2024 IAM/Boeing contract proposal we are voting on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.

IAM/Boeing Negotiated Resolution Contract 2024: For information about the IAM/Boeing Contract 2024 Proposal, visit our website at www.iam751.org/2024StrikeProposal. Your Union wants to ensure that whether you vote to accept or reject the contract, you base your decision on accurate, reliable information. Make sure to review the official details, consult with union representatives, and keep up with the most up-to-date information by visiting this website.
Below are links to one-pagers explaining some improvements to the 2024 IAM/Boeing contract proposal, all of which can be found on the 2024 Strike Proposal website. These resources provide a clear breakdown of the issues, making it easier to understand how the contract addresses the members' priorities.
IAM/Boeing Negotiated Resolution Contract 2024: With the help of Acting U.S. Secretary of Labor Julie Su, we have received a negotiated proposal and resolution to end the strike, and it warrants presenting to the members and is worthy of your consideration. The company is offering the following improvements to the offer from September 12, 2024, with the only change being the removal of the MRSP (Machinists Retirement Savings Plan). We are finalizing the strike settlement agreement, which will be completed soon, along with additional contract details to provide you with a clear understanding of the offer.
We plan to hold the contract ratification vote on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. We are working to secure voting locations to accommodate our membership. There will be only one ballot to ACCEPT or REJECT the bargaining agreement. No strike vote is required as we are already on strike. A simple majority (50% +1) of members voting will determine the outcome.
The future of this contract is in your hands. Thank you for your continued input and support throughout this process.
Day 36 - Strike Update
October 18, 2024 Afternoon Update
We are actively engaged in indirect discussions with the company, facilitated by Acting U.S. Secretary of Labor Julie Su. As part of our responsibility to seek a fair resolution, we are fully committed to these talks. It is our responsibility to attempt to reach a resolution. We will report on any progress once it happens.
As we move forward in this critical stage, it’s more important than ever to hear directly from our membership. It will be their priorities that guide us at the table. This evening, we released a survey for the members to fill out.
100+ Years of Service Working for Boeing Holding the Line! Retirees Scott Blakemore, Stan Startzman, and Rolando (Boysie) Herrera have held the line for five strikes.
Labor Neighbor Stipend for Striking Workers (Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO): Space is very limited for this unique opportunity to make some money talking to other union families.
The Washington State Labor Council is offering striking members a chance to earn $250 per week through the Labor Neighbor program. This grassroots initiative connects union members and their families, educating them about pro-worker candidates endorsed by the WSLC. Union members consistently show a 6% higher voter turnout than the general public, making these efforts critical.
This year’s elections will significantly affect pro-worker legislation, clean energy infrastructure, education, and long-term care. With nearly one million union-affiliated voters in Washington, engaging low-turnout union households could shape critical outcomes. Research highlights the power of union-member-to-union-member conversations in driving voter participation and building political strength. Active and retired union members and their families make up 978,729 Washington voters. Mobilizing low-propensity union households will shape outcomes in the 2024 elections.
Participants in the program will focus on direct voter engagement through doorbelling, attend mandatory training, and provide regular progress reports.
Ideal candidates should be independent, eager to connect with fellow union members, and have reliable transportation. *Space is limited. Not everyone who fills out this form will be guaranteed participation.
*Stipend is $250/week* FULL
Community Resources for IAM Striking Workers Zoom Session:
Join us for the final virtual Community Resources for IAM Striking Workers session tomorrow, hosted by Joe Ruth from the IAM Health and Benefits Department. This session will provide an overview of resources available to striking workers, though it won’t cover updates on the strike, contract, or picket duties.
Picket Duty: We understand that members may need to take temporary work to support themselves during this time, and we don’t want to make participation in picket duty a requirement for receiving strike pay. However, it’s crucial that everyone does their fair share to keep our efforts strong. It's just 4 hours a week, and by standing together and supporting each other, we will win this. Let’s make sure we all do our part!
In Unity,
Your Union Negotiating Committee

Let's not forget that this contract battle started in 2011 when Boeing threatened to take the 737 Max production somewhere else.
Let's not forget the sacrifices IAM Members made to secure the 737 Max jobs, not just for ourselves but for everyone.
Let's not forget that Boeing threatened to take the 777X production to another state unless we gave up our pension, stagnated wages, and took on a massive cost shift in healthcare.
Let's not forget that even when Boeing received the economics they demanded in 2014, they squandered it on stock buybacks and returned free cash flow to the shareholders.
IAM 751/W24 Members have already sacrificed enough to ensure these jobs remain in our communities for today's and tomorrow's workers. We are fighting to regain past concessions and for a secure future for all members.
At today's Strike Rally at the Seattle Union Hall, IAM 751 President Jon Holden said it best - bargaining is hard work, and you can't quit when it gets tough.
"Some have said that we should get up and walk away. I care too much about this membership to walk away. The IAM will never walk away. We will do what it takes to get a fair agreement," Holden said to the crowd.
No matter what tactic they try, Boeing will never drive a wedge between our members in this Union. We will channel our member's intensity at the bargaining table. We draw strength from this membership - we know this and so does this company.
We will be successful. Our members' voices will be heard. We will get back to the bargaining table. This is about our future and the future of our communities.
One Day Longer, One Day Stronger

Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su Visits Machinists Holding the Line!
Today, Acting Secretary of the Department of Labor Julie Su visited Seattle to meet separately with both IAM 751 leadership and Boeing at a critical moment for our strike. Su’s role was to assess the current situation and urge both sides to move forward in the bargaining process, but her visit brought national attention to the fight we’re waging for a fair contract.
At the Seattle Union Hall, Su met with IAM 751 President Jon Holden, who outlined why Machinists overwhelmingly rejected Boeing’s offer on September 12 and are united in striking for the contract they deserve. He took a deep dive, explaining the relationship and our past struggles with the company, which continues to impact these talks in 2024. He emphasized our members' sacrifices over the past 16 years to ensure Boeing’s success, which the company should acknowledge going forward.
Holden also updated Su on current negotiations, stressing the Union’s commitment to a negotiated contract that values our members' skills and dedication. While it is important to return to the table, the Union remains firm on securing an agreement that truly reflects the respect our members have earned and deserve.
After meeting with Holden, Su spoke with the bargaining team to better understand the negotiation roadblocks. The team made it clear: our members take immense pride in the work they perform and the products they build. We look forward to negotiating a contract that recognizes their worth.

Yesterday's announcement that Boeing plans to reduce its total workforce by 10% and end production of the 767 Freighters in 2027 attracted significant media attention and raised many questions.
It's important to state that the Machinists did not cause this by going on strike. Our 30-day strike is a direct outcome of poor decision-making by Boeing's executives, who continue to disregard the voices of 33,000 of their workers.
An article published today highlights how layoffs have become the typical corporate response in such situations. Les Leopold, executive director of the Labor Institute and author of Wall Street’s War on Workers, sums it up: "Boeing is in trouble because it became a manufacturer of stock buybacks, not just planes."
Boeing has the power to end this strike at any time. They know what it will take but have chosen not to act. This is on the company, not the IAM.
The solution lies at the bargaining table. CEO Ortberg has a chance to do things differently this time rather than follow the same corporate playbook. The IAM is ready and willing to resume negotiations at any time.

Boeing is attempting to bargain in the press. It won’t work, and it is detrimental to the bargaining process. Boeing is simply attempting the same old bargaining tactics. They are trying to deal directly with the membership and sow seeds of doubt and division in our Union. They hope to drive a wedge within our Union. There is no chance of that. We are stronger than ever and united on every picket line.
We worked to prepare our members and make them aware of Boeing’s tactics. This May, Boeing locked out its own Firefighters, members of International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local I-66, on International Firefighters Day. Local I-66 was still ready to bargain and working to reach an agreement. Boeing can’t stand any worker that stands up to them and became frustrated with the Firefighters efforts to stand strong for their members. On May 16, Boeing negotiators sent a letter to the homes of every Firefighterto disparage the Union and its bargaining committee and made claims of bad-faith bargaining. We knew the company would do this to the IAM as well.
In June, the IAM prepared our membership for this. At every Local Lodge meeting that month, we shared the letter sent by Boeing to the 125 Firefighters’ homes. We told our members that Boeing would also attempt to disparage the IAM, our negotiating committee, and claim we were not bargaining in good faith. Boeing is using the same old tired tactics of bargaining in the press. Instead of sending letters to our 33,000 members’ homes, they are trying to save postage and send it to the press. While the IAM has filed charges against Boeing to protect our members’ legal rights and force the company to bargain in good faith, Boeing filed these frivolous ULP charges and sent them immediately to the media to bargain only in the press. It won’t work.
Bargaining is hard work, and Boeing keeps walking away from the table. During our three mediated talks, the company has walked away all three times. They gave up and left the FMCS mediators to let us know they had walked away. At the latest talks, they withdrew their offer and then wanted to tell everyone all about it. This weak attempt at a power move will only make it harder to reach an agreement. The fact they are complaining about our proposals shows their desperation and only proves to our members that we are fighting for them. Our members will grow more defiant and more united as they see Boeing continually walk away and quit.
Boeing also claimed in their Oct. 8 update that we made ‘non-negotiable demands’ in mediation. The arrogance of Boeing attempting to define what we can or can’t propose is very revealing. Who are they to say what we can propose in bargaining? We are fighting for our members and their priorities. Any effort to disparage our Union and bargain in the press will not drive us from the priorities set by our membership. Personal attacks sent to the media will never work.
The path to resolve this strike begins at the bargaining table. An unwillingness to stay at the table only prolongs the strike. CEO Ortberg has an opportunity to do things differently instead of the same old tired labor relations threats used to intimidate and crush anyone who stands up to them. Our membership is too powerful for that and is standing on principles. Ultimately, it will be our membership that determines whether any negotiated contract offer is accepted. They want a resolution that is negotiated and addresses their needs. Get back to the bargaining table.
The fight for our future is NOW, and we are not alone. Whether it's members of SPEEA, Teamsters, IAFF, AFA, ILUW, SEA, or SEIU to name a few, all our sister and brother Unions are standing strong with us. They’ve been with us on the picket lines, volunteering, donating to our hardship fund, and giving us the support we need to keep this strike strong. But now it’s time to send an even LOUDER message!
This rally is more than just an event. It’s a powerful statement to Boeing, the industry, and every worker in this country - we will not back down! Every step we take together is another step toward securing the contract we deserve and one that reflects the value of our labor and the future we are fighting for.
Join IAM District 751/W24 for a STRIKE RALLY Seattle Union Hall Tuesday, October 15, 2024 12:00 P.M.
There is no Boeing without the IAM! Let’s make this rally a turning point in this strike. Now is the time to show our collective power!

IAM 751 Member Ryan Bergh, Holding and Feeding the Line in Everett!
All day, members and the media have asked us the same question: What's next? As your representative, it's our responsibility to keep working towards a negotiated agreement to resolve this strike.
We've said it before and will say it again - we are ready and willing to get back to the bargaining table at any time through direct or mediated talks. It's our duty to fight for this contract, and there is room for progress. But to do that, Boeing needs to meet us at the table.
When Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg took the reins, he wasn’t the cause of decades of disrespect and poor decisions made by upper management in the past. However, the decisions made since he took over are squarely under his direction and control. The outcome of this dispute will reflect on his leadership going forward. This is very clear.
There is no Boeing without the IAM. Though the cost for IAM members accounts for just 5% of the airplane, refusing to provide the wages, benefits, and retirement security we’ve earned and deserve will only shatter the fragile relationship between the company and the very workers who bring its planes to life.
We will continue to advocate the membership goals. For us, it’s simple: the members set the priorities for negotiations, not the company.

Today, we completed a second day of mediated talks with Boeing. The company was hell-bent on standing on the non-negotiated offer that was sent directly to the media on September 23, 2024. They refused to propose any wage increases, vacation/sick leave accrual, progression, ratification bonus, or the 401k Match/SCRC Contribution. They also would not reinstate the defined benefit pension.
By refusing to bargain the offer sent to the media, the company made it harder to reach an agreement.
Your negotiating committee attempted to address multiple priorities that could have led to an offer we could bring to a vote, but the company wasn’t willing to move in our direction.
Through the mediator, Boeing has now withdrawn its September 23 offer.
When we surveyed our members on that offer, the response was overwhelming - those who participated said it was not good enough.
Holding the line and picketing is more important than ever. Members are doing what it takes to weather this strike to stand on principle.
Your negotiating committee remains ready to continue mediated or direct talks.
We will work on a survey in the next week to ask our members where the priorities are. Your voice is more critical now more than ever.
We will prevail.
"One day longer, One day stronger" is more than just a catchphrase. It's our battle cry that we must all use as we stand together, united and defiant against one of the most powerful companies in the world.
Stand strong, brothers and sisters. We are all in this together. Boeing may have started this fight, but the Machinists will finish it.

Holding the Line since 1948! This year, IAM Member Randy Hamline has the honor of wearing the 751 Strike Apron, which has been worn on the picket line of every IAM Strike since 1948.
Although we met with Boeing and federal mediators all day, there was no meaningful movement to report. We will be back at it tomorrow, continuing to push the critical issues you've told us matter most. We remain focused on fighting for the priorities of the membership.
Labor stands with Labor! A rising tide lifts all boats, and we're so grateful to the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA and AFL-CIO for their generous $20,000 donation to the IAM 751 Hardship Fund. Special thanks to AFA President Sara Nelson for joining our members on the picket line, standing in solidarity with IAM 751. Together, we will fight for our future!

From delivery drivers to maintenance crews and warehouse workers to IT jobs, IAM 751 Members are securing temporary jobs to keep us strong while we fight for the contract we deserve.
We owe a huge thanks to the local businesses stepping up to employ our members and showing the power of community support.
It’s taken nearly a century to build the aerospace legacy in Washington and Oregon. Our members have spent their lives looking to the skies, proud of the work they do and the products they build. By finding temporary work while on strike, we are sending a clear message that we are in this for the long haul. No matter how long this strike lasts, one thing is certain - there’s no Boeing without the Machinists.

It’s always a challenge to fill the strike line for the overnight and weekend shifts. That’s why when we hear about someone like 751 Member Rachel, who has been consistently walking the overnight picket shift since the very first night of our strike, we can’t help but send a huge shoutout. Thank you, Rachel, for your unwavering dedication and for standing strong in the fight for the contract that our membersrightfully deserve!
Strikes don’t happen without you, and picket signs don’t hold themselves. To all the members who have continuously shown up to walk the strike line, volunteer at the Strike HQs, drive hundreds of miles getting our members back and forth to the halls, support members, chop wood, prepare food, assemble picket signs, produce burn barrels, and organize the logistics - we see you, and appreciate your commitment to making this strike a success. As we approach mediation on Monday, we don’t want to raise expectations of the outcome. We're entering these discussions with an open mind, fully aware that the membership is counting on us to prioritize the issues you've made clear are essential. While we look forward to meaningful dialogue, we need Boeing to be ready to make real movement on the key priorities that matter most to you. Continue to stand strong on the picket lines and send a powerful message that we are united as we fight for a better future.
Solidarity means more than standing together on the picket line - it extends to supporting our Union Brothers and Sisters across all Boeing unions. Twenty-four years ago, when SPEEA went on strike, the labor community rallied to support them. Today, SPEEA is paying it forward by donating $16,500 every two weeks to the IAM Hardship Fund for the next three months, for a total of up to $99,000.
You can be sure that 751 will stand strong beside SPEEA when their battles come. This is what the labor movement is all about. When we stick together, we win together.

Mediation Update for IAM/Boeing Contract Negotiations 2024
We want to inform you that your Union Negotiating Committee and Boeing will meet with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services (FMCS) to continue mediated negotiations on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 9 AM.
This meeting is another critical opportunity to push for the priorities of our Membership. We will continue to fight relentlessly for the issues that matter most to you.
As we enter the third week of our strike against Boeing, it's important to reflect on our progress. Our members continue to stand strong across Puget Sound, Portland, California, and Moses Lake. We've seen a remarkable rise in leadership on the picket lines, with our Union brothers and sisters stepping up and taking charge. The next generation of leaders is proving their dedication, making this fight for a better standard of living successful.
Despite the company's refusal to return to the bargaining table, our resolve remains unshaken. They hoped sending their last offer to the press would whip up the public and pressure our members to soften their stance. Not only did that not happen, our members are holding the line, stronger than ever.
This week, they also tried to weaken us by cutting off our healthcare benefits, hoping it would diminish our resolve. What they failed to understand is that you have been preparing for this moment. You are standing firm on principle, and we are very proud of that.
We've heard that many of you have found reliable and affordable healthcare options through Washington Health Plan Finder (www.wahealthplanfinder.org). If you've discovered valuable options, please share them with us at communications@iam751.org. You can remain anonymous if you'd prefer - this is about helping fellow members during the strike.
Many have asked when negotiations will resume. We are always ready to engage in direct or mediated talks, but as of today, there aren’t any discussions scheduled for further negotiations. Until then, we remain focused on supporting our membership, providing opportunities for community services, helping others find work, and keeping our picket lines strong.
We are at maximum leverage at the right time. Stand strong, brothers and sisters. Together, we will prevail together!

Some credit card companies, like Union Plus, offer options for workers on strike. You can find details on the Union Plus Strike Grant Program here.
If you bank with BECU, relief payments may be available for certain loans and credit card accounts through the BECU Loan Assistance Program.
We’ve seen reports of many members getting temporary employment during this strike. We would like to highlight some of those to show others what is available. Please send your story to communications@iam751.org, and we may showcase your opportunity in an upcoming issue of the Aero Mechanic. We won’t use your last name in the story, but your first name and the first letter of your last name. Just a precaution in case your temporary employer happens upon it and may not appreciate this.

Strike/Picket Reminders:
IAM Strike/Debit Card distribution continues next week on Wednesday (10/2) and Friday (10/4) from 10 AM - 2 PM. All pick-ups will be at the Seattle Union Hall at 9125 15th Place South, Seattle, WA 98108.
If you can not make your picket duty, please make up the time on a later day. If there are too many picketers at the location closest to your home, head to another line to meet some of your fellow Union Brothers and Sisters from other shops.

Today marks the final day IAM 751 Members will have access to their Boeing health insurance plans, as the company will cut off access starting tomorrow.
Thanks to legislative work by IAM District 751, members affected by this can apply for health and dental insurance through the Washington Health Benefit Exchange under new provisions in Senate Bill 5632, sponsored by Washington State Sen. Karen Keiser (D-Des Moines) and passed in 2024.
Striking workers now have a 60-day special enrollment period before and after losing employer-sponsored coverage, making it possible to find a plan through Washington Healthplanfinder. This special enrollment period will allow striking Boeing workers to apply for coverage as early as tomorrow, with plans effective as soon as their employer coverage ends on September 30, 2024.
Members are advised to evaluate healthcare needs carefully before purchasing COBRA or using the Washington Health Plan Finder. The Union can't guarantee but will work to ensure any negotiated strike settlement agreement will eventually reimburse COBRA-related costs, so workers should be cautious about purchasing external plans unless necessary.
How to Apply for Washington Healthplanfinder Coverage:
Fill out an application, report a "loss of other coverage," and enter the last day of employer coverage to initiate a special enrollment period.
Review plan options and enroll in a new plan.
For help, select "Get Support" on the homepage.
When employer-sponsored healthcare resumes, be sure to cancel any plan obtained through Washington Healthplanfinder.
COBRA
Workers may also be able to maintain employer-sponsored health care coverage through the federal COBRA program, but it is often the most expensive option. Before choosing COBRA, compare the available plans on Washington Healthplanfinder, which might offer more affordable coverage options.
Striking workers have 60 days from October 1, 2024, to enroll in COBRA. COBRA can be elected individually for anyone on your plan. To enroll, call Work Life at 866-473-2016 and request "Health and Insurance." COBRA coverage will be retroactive to October 1 but can only be requested after September 30.
The cost to purchase COBRA is 102% of the regular premium. Workers have 60 days to decide whether to enroll and 45 days to pay once they opt for the coverage.
It's important to consider that many members have historically waited to elect COBRA until they actually needed it. If you don't need immediate coverage, delaying your decision can extend the time before a payment is due. However, if your spouse/partner/child has a serious medical condition, it may be best to elect COBRA coverage right away. Additionally, in the event of an emergency or accident, such as one occurring in late October, you can retroactively sign up for COBRA when necessary.
Monthly Medical Premium Costs for COBRA (2024). Note: This is the cost for a single employee; costs will be more per family member.
BCBS Traditional: $680.13
BCBS Selections: $787.13
Kaiser: $750.07
Carefully weigh your healthcare needs carefully and choose the option that best suits you and your family.

We are still working with U.S. Bank regarding challenges we're experiencing with members who share the same last name or the same first and last name. We are also addressing issues for members who were on a Leave of Absence(LOA) but have since returned from leave after the strike began.
Anyone currently on a Leave of Absence does NOT qualify for strike pay. Receiving short-term disability, whether occupational or non-occupational, disqualifies you from receiving strike pay.
For those who were on a Leave of Absence and have since contacted Worklife to take themselves off LOA or have reached your leave end date, please call or email us to verify if your debit card is available. If it is not, we will order one for you.
Once you come off a Leave of Absence, there is a waiting period before you receive strike pay, which will be paid at the end of the third week after your leave ends. We need to know when your leave of absence ended so we can pay you appropriately.
If you were on a medical leave of absence, your leave will officially end on the date registered with the Boeing Leave Service Center, but you will need to clear Boeing Medical to return to work after the strike. There is no need to clear medical until the strike is over.
Please click here and fill out the survey if you were on LOA at any point during the strike or if your card has not been funded.

Today, your Union Bargaining Committee went back to mediated talks with Boeing. With the support of Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services (FMCS), we had frank discussions about the needs of our members and the expected outcomes they are striving for.
We used the recent survey to support our positions and again stressed the need for the reinstatement of the defined benefit pension. While conversations were direct, we did not make progress on the pension issue. The company remains adamant that it will not unfreeze the defined benefit plan. The company also would not engage substantively about other issues that the membership has made clear remain top priorities, like higher pay, quicker wage progression, and more PTO. Talks broke off, and we have no further dates scheduled at this time. We remain open to talks with the company, either direct or mediated. We will continue to fight for the issues that are important to you.
Stand strong, Brothers and Sisters. We will keep you informed of any further talks that are scheduled.

Day 14 - Strike Update September 26, 2024
Holding the line in Auburn and showing West Auburn High School students what it means to be Union!
Tomorrow, your Union Negotiating Committee and Boeing will resume mediated talks with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services (FMCS). This is another vital opportunity for your Union to address the issues that matter most to our members. As always, the IAM 751 doesn't bargain through the press - the only way to get our members back to work is through meaningful negotiations.
Our strike represents more than just the fight of 751 Members. It's about our families and our communities as well. We've been working for ten years, establishing our leverage, building solidarity on the shop floor, and standing strong to fight for a better tomorrow. The company now has the chance to propose an agreement worthy of the workforce that powers its success.
Stay resolute - don't let anyone shake the bravery and unity you've shown the world.
One Day Longer, One Day Stronger - that's what it takes.
In Unity, Your Union Negotiating Committee
Unemployment Insurance (UI) Information: Many members have questions regarding Washington State Unemployment Insurance (UI). While each claim is assessed individually, it's important to know that 751 members applying for and receiving UI benefits during the strike may have to pay it back later. Washington State generally does not grant UI benefits to striking workers, only to those locked out by their employers. As IAM 751 members are on strike and not locked out, the state's system typically flags such claims and denies payment while the claim is being reviewed. Even if an initial claim is accepted, it's possible no payment will be issued.
Therefore, your Union advises members not to apply for UI benefits unless they are prepared for the possibility of repaying the money.
Strike/Picket Reminders: When on the picket line, remember that you represent our proud Union. Please be considerate of noise and actions, especially during the evenings. What you do will influence the support we receive from our neighbors, friends, coworkers, and the media.
We all need to contribute time to ensure our success. In Seattle and Renton, we need more volunteers due to the higher number of gates. If other locations are too crowded or have long waits, head to the Seattle Union Hall or Renton Union Hall, which could gladly use your help.
On Friday, September 27, 2024, your Union Negotiating Committee, and the Boeing Company will meet with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services (FMCS) to continue mediated negotiations. The Union is ready for this opportunity to bring forward the issues that members have identified as critical to reaching an agreement. We know that the only way to resolve this strike is through negotiations.
The company's latest offer didn't meet the needs of our members. That message came through loud and clear in our latest survey. After a decade of hard work and sacrifice to keep Boeing flying high, the company's leadership rewarded themselves with record bonuses, while the workers who built those planes and carried the company through its darkest times, struggled to make ends meet.
The men and women who keep Boeing's assembly lines moving and ensure quality and safety at every step deserve more than token gestures. They deserve a contract that reflects their worth - one that secures their livelihoods and their future. It's time for Boeing to step up, recognize who has kept this company afloat, and offer a contract worthy of that effort and sacrifice.
The time for real change is now - for Boeing to make things right for its workforce.
As always, we will keep you informed every step of the way during this mediation process. Together, we'll push for an agreement that finally respects and rewards the working-class heroes who build the products that make Boeing soar.
Our members stand strong, and we remain ready to continue mediated or direct negotiations with Boeing. This has been made clear to both the company and our membership. The only way to resolve this strike is through negotiations, and rest assured, your Union will not bargain through the media.
The survey results from yesterday were overwhelmingly clear, almost as loud as the first offer: members are not interested in the company's latest offer that was sent through the media. Many comments expressed that the offer was inadequate and the company's decision to bypass the Union was viewed as disrespectful.
Often, the media overlooks in their stories and reports how our history shapes our present relationship with this company. A 30% General Wage Increase (GWI) is progress, but it does not erase the fact that, over the past decade, our members have received only an 8% wage increase. In a time of record inflation and rise in the cost of living, in one of the most expensive regions in the country, that 8% was not enough. Our members had to stretch their pay to cover retirement, healthcare, and basic living costs.
On top of that, the company's approach of releasing this offer directly to the media and our members feels like a slap in the face to those who understand the values of collective bargaining. Going on strike is never easy, but our members made the tough decision to stand on principles for a better future - to risk everything and withhold their labor - to get the agreement they deserve. We expect to negotiate any resolution to this strike. Then, our members will have their say.
The survey remains open, and we encourage all members to make their voices heard by completing it.
We do not and will not negotiate in the press. We heard you, and you've told us loud and clear that this proposal did not go far enough to address our members' priorities. We have made it clear that we are ready to schedule mediated or direct talks with Boeing as the path to find a resolution to this strike. Any resolutions must then be presented and voted on by the membership.
Your strength and unity make us powerful; what happens next is solely up to you.

Email Communications:
We have had some sporadic reports about some members not receiving email communications. Here are the steps to correct this.
Register or log in to our website at IAM751.org, as all our emails are sent through the website.
Once logged in, go to Members/Member Home/ Settings and ensure your email is there. Also, make sure the company selected is "The Boeing Company."
If you've done all this and are still not receiving our email communications, send a note to info@iam751.org, and we will look into it manually.
Only members are allowed to access our website to receive our communications. You will be looked up in our system to validate this.
Debit Card Reminder:
Debit/Strike Card Distribution continues with the last names starting with M-Z on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, and Friday, September 27, 2024, is a makeup day for the entire Alphabet. Both days are from 9 AM to 4 PM.
IMPORTANT: If you are currently on LOA, you are not eligible for a debit card or strike pay until your LOA ends. If you were recently on LOA, which ended earlier this year, please do not come to the debit card pick-up this week. We will contact you in a separate email when your card arrives.
Strike/Picket Reminders:
We all have to chip in a little time to be successful. Especially in Seattle and Renton, as they have the most gates to fill. If you don't want to wait, or it's too crowded at the other locations, head to the Seattle Union Hall or Renton Union Hall, and they'll gladly utilize your services.
This morning, at 9 AM, Boeing notified us of what they call an "improved best and final offer." While your Negotiating Team was still reviewing the details, Boeing took it upon itself to disrespect our entire Union by sending this offer directly to all members and the media without any prior communication from your Union. This offer was not negotiated with your Union; it was thrown at us without any discussion.
Let us be absolutely clear: THIS IS A NON-NEGOTIATED OFFER from Boeing. Your Negotiating Committee did not have any discussion or input on this offer. We have said all along that the Union would be available for direct talks with Boeing or, at a minimum, expected to continue mediated discussions when the company was ready. These direct dealing tactics are a huge mistake, damage the negotiation process, and attempt to go around and bypass your Union negotiating committee.
Mediation broke down on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, after the company refused to make an offer that addressed the priorities of our membership. This proposal does not go far enough to address your concerns, and Boeing has missed the mark with this proposal. They are trying to drive a wedge between our members and weaken our solidarity with this divisive strategy.
This tactic is a blatant show of disrespect to you - our members - and the bargaining process. Boeing does not get to decide when or if you vote.Boeing has misled the media by wrongfully stating the Union membership is required to vote on their latest offer.
As you see in Boeing's offer, they made it contingent on ratification by 11:59 PM PT on Friday, September 27, 2024. This does not give us enough time to present details to the membership or even secure all voting locations. It is vital that we negotiate a successful resolution to this strike. We contacted the company to demand they engage in either direct talks or a mediated discussion. The company has refused to meet for further discussion; therefore, we will not be voting on the 27th.
Please look for our survey being created and sent to our members via email for direct input on the company's offer. We will gather your opinion on whether this offer meets your demands.
Membership input is critical as we make decisions going forward. They have severely underestimated the strength of our unity. This is our fight and our decision to make.
Stay strong. Stay united. Stay focused on what you deserve. You are in control of what happens next.
The longer the picket line, the shorter the strike. It's a saying rooted in history that holds true because picket lines work.
A picket line isn't just a symbol; it's a powerful way to draw attention to our cause and inform the public why we are striking. In real-time, it demonstrates to the company that we are prepared to stand together until we get the contract we deserve. When we hold the line, we show the world, the media, our neighbors, and all workers that we are willing to take action for a better contract, one we deserve.
Machinists are strong. Picketing is a federally protected right, and it's a privilege to exercise it without the fear of retaliation from the employer or the government that past strikers once faced.
But our message won't be clear if we aren't seen. Staying at home won't demonstrate to the world how serious we are. Striking is more than marking a box on a ballot; to be heard, we need to be visible.
This is how we'll push the company beyond what they thought was possible. Today, social media amplifies our efforts, capturing photos and videos of picket lines and sharing them instantly with the world. This visibility shows that Machinists aren't afraid to speak up and stand firm in our fight.
Generations of IAM 751 Members are walking the line together, with first-timers and seasoned Machinists swapping stories and sharing hot coffee around a burn barrel late into the night. These images are making headlines across the globe. Your dedication and solidarity are visible in every photo taken and shared.
One day longer, one day stronger, that's how we'll succeed. Today, IAM 751 President Jon Holden stood proudly with a group of Grade A factory service members in Renton, their unity palpable. To everyone out on the picket lines, bringing your family and friends to this fight: your strength and solidarity are immeasurable, and millions are seeing your truth.

Being on strike is never easy, so please keep an eye out for those in our Union family who may need support.
Our fight is just - don't let anyone or the media shake your confidence. The message for today and every day is One Day Longer, One Day Stronger!
We want to thank each and every one of you who has been out on the picket lines. Your solidarity and strength are not only visible but are making an impact both here in Puget Sound and across the nation.
Since mediated talks broke off on Wednesday, no additional discussions have been scheduled. Utilizing the membership survey data over the last few days has reinforced our effort to stand firm on increased General Wage Increases, reestablishing an annual bonus, and pushing for the Defined Benefit Pension. We remain ready to return to the table, whether through direct talks with the company or via the federal mediator. Until then, our focus is on reinforcing the picket lines, supporting each other, and engaging in constructive discussions as we stand united.
This morning, IAM 751 President Jon Holden was out on the picket lines in Seattle, having candid conversations with members about the need for a stronger contract offer. Confidence remains high, and members are prepared to do whatever it takes to win this fight. Many of you have asked when talks will resume and when we might see a new offer. While we don't have those answers yet, it's crucial that we stay the course and continue supporting one another.
Look out for your Union brothers and sisters who might need some assistance and direct them to the Union Hall for support.
Together, we will prevail and secure the contract you deserve. We are on the right side of history in this fight.
If you didn't get your picket card in the mail, head to the closest Strike HQ, and they will get you to a picket line. Family and friends are always welcome to picket with our members.
Important Update: IAM Strike Card Distribution Schedule
Members will receive strike pay on a debit card issued by IAM 751. We will continue distribution of The IAM Strike Card at the Seattle Union Hall ONLY, located at:

The distribution schedule is as follows:
Monday, September 23, 2024 – For all members with last names starting with letters A thru L
Wednesday, September 25, 2024 – For all members with last names beginning with letters M thru Z
Friday, September 27, 2024 – Make-up day for all 751 Members who didn't receive their cards
These make-up days are for any members who did not pick up their Strike Card last week. Please bring your Boeing Badge or driver's license and ensure your mailing address is current. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this process.
Today marked our second full day of mediation with the company, assisted by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS). Throughout the day, we conveyed the priorities of our members to the company via the mediator. Unfortunately, mediation concluded today without reaching any resolution.
The clear message from our members, expressed through their rejection of the company's offer and their vote to strike, has been heard and reinforced by your negotiating team. We continue to prioritize the issues you defined in the most recent survey, yet we are deeply concerned that the company has not addressed your top concerns. No meaningful progress was made during today's talks.
While we remain open to further discussions, whether directly or through mediation, currently, there are no additional dates scheduled. We are fully committed to fighting for the contract our members deserve, and we continue to push forward with the goal of securing the contract our members have earned.
You are the lifeblood of this company. It is your hands that create the product that leaves the factory. You are the legacy of this company. Boeing needs to recognize that.
Now is the moment to make our voices heard louder than ever. Every day on the picket line reminds the company that we will not back down until we secure the contract we deserve. By standing together, we show the world our solidarity is unbreakable.
This is our future, our fight, and your presence on the picket line sends a clear and powerful message that One Day Longer, One Day Stronger isn't just something we say, it's how we live. Your support on the picket line makes all the difference - we started this together, and we will finish it together.

Picket Reminders:
We are working to get some more parking around the temporary Everett Hall. Remember, we always need picketers in the early mornings and evenings. That will help with parking.
You are NOT allowed to park on the south side of the street in front of the Sno-Isle Technical Center.
You do not need your picket cards to join the strike lines. Just show up at your closest Strike HQ and the volunteers will get you to the picket lines. You can find the Strike HQ addresses at https://www.iam751.org/Strike2024/
Please be ready to participate in additional surveys in the next few days, as they will be emailed soon.
Today, your Union Negotiating Committee met with Boeing and the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS).
We will not mince words - after a full day of mediation, we are frustrated. The company was not prepared and was unwilling to address the issues you've made clear are essential for ending this strike: Wages and Pension.
The company doesn't seem to be taking mediation seriously. With a 96% strike vote, we thought Boeing would finally understand that IAM 751 Machinists are demanding more.
We are fighting for what is right and just - for what we have earned over the past 16 years.
Recently, Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg, who did not attend today's mediation, asked workers "not to sacrifice the opportunity to secure our future together because of the frustrations of the past." Today, we ask Boeing not to miss the opportunity to recognize its workers by presenting a contract that can resolve this labor dispute so we can get back to building and delivering Boeing aircraft.
There is no Boeing without the IAM - and no contract without the Members' vote!
Mediation will continue tomorrow as the Union and company meet again with the FMCS.
In Unity,
Your Union Negotiating Committee
Picket Reminders:
You are NOT allowed to park in Boeing parking lots while picketing. Please park at the Union Halls and use the shuttle service to the picket lines. Boeing has informed the Union that they will take action against picketers who park on company property.
Using the Boeing gym during the strike is strictly prohibited and considered crossing the picket line.
Picketer parking at Kasch Park is prohibited. You will get a ticket or towed according to the city.
You are NOT allowed to park on Seaway Blvd. in Everett.
At night, please keep the noise down at the Renton Union Hall, as there have been complaints from nearby residents.
Tomorrow, your Negotiating Committee will enter mediation with the company. It's important to note that in mediation with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS), the mediator does not have the authority to force either side to agree on specific terms of a contract but rather serves as a neutral party that works to help both sides reach agreement. We will keep you informed of any developments as they arise during the mediation process.
Thank you to everyone who picked up their debit card yesterday and completed the survey. If you weren't able to collect your IAM Strike Card, we will schedule an additional distribution day soon, and the exact time and location will be announced shortly.
Also, thank you to everyone who completed the IAM Contract 2024 Member Priority Survey last night. The survey will remain active for the next few days, so if you haven't yet, please take a moment to fill it out and share what issues matter most to you and your family. If you didn't get a survey in your email, please update your member information here with a personal email address. Click Here to update your information
Lastly, a reminder to all picketers: please park your vehicles at the designated Union Halls, and we will shuttle you to the strike lines.
We stand united, stronger than ever, because we fight side by side with an unwavering belief in our cause.
Actions speak louder than words. Your vote of 96% to strike got everyone's attention. But we walk the walk and talk the talk in the Labor Movement. We stand on business, and now it's time to show them we aren't going anywhere.
The picket lines need to be manned 24/7, and that takes every single one of us. Stick to your schedule, show up at your picket location on time, and let's make sure no shift goes uncovered.
Tomorrow, Sunday, September 15, 2024, is the day to pick up your IAM 751 strike card. All locations will be open from 8 AM to 5 PM. Find your zip code for your location by clicking on each photo to enlarge the image. Strike Card information can be found at: www.iam751.org/debit751
On Tuesday, the Union will meet with federal mediators assigned through the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) and Boeing to begin discussions. Now is the moment to rise - show Boeing that our voices aren't just loud; they are unstoppable. Let our presence on the picket lines echo across the country and beyond. We are stronger than ever before, and we won't back down.
Read the headlines, and you will see the power of the Machinists Union is peaking right now, as it should be. IAM District 751 and W24 Members were out in full force on Day #1 of our Strike against the Boeing Company. We are ready for the long haul. Picket Captains checked picketers in and dispersed them to gates across Puget Sound, Portland, Victorville, Edwards AFB, and Moses Lake. Our signs are raised, burn barrels lit, and strike kitchens - the lifeblood of our fight - are stocked and ready to go.
Confidence is high as Members take control of the next phase of reaching our goals. This is Our Future, This is Our Fight.
It is important to reflect on the solidarity shown in Thursday’s vote. Our confidence radiates from every picket line as we seize control of our future. Thursday’s overwhelming vote was a sign of our unity. Men and women of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds stood shoulder to shoulder, defiant and strong. We are proud of you, and we are more powerful now than we were at any time in the past.
The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services (FMCS) has initiated mediated conversations between the IAM and Boeing. We are scheduled to meet with FMCS for these talks early next week. This is a crucial step where we will discuss the issues that you, our Members, have identified as critical to reaching an agreement.
Be ready for the upcoming survey - this will be your chance to provide additional input to the bargaining committee. Your feedback is invaluable and will help us represent your interests effectively.
IAM/Boeing Contract 2024 Negotiations Update - September 9, 2024
Dear Members,
I am receiving hundreds of messages and emails. I will try to address my responses in mass communication as I will not be able to respond to each message. Rest assured, I am reading them all.
We'd like to briefly go over the "Tentative Agreement" process. A Tentative Agreement is not certain or fixed, and it's certainly not final. This simply means that the bargaining team has negotiated every issue that we could to completion, temporarily reaching an agreement on the document, including wages, hours, and working conditions. A "Tentative Agreement" does not take away your right to evaluate the changes and decide whether you will vote to Accept the agreement and move forward or Reject the agreement and vote to Strike.
We have achieved everything we could in bargaining, short of a strike. We recommended acceptance because we can't guarantee we can achieve more in a strike. But that is your decision to make and is a decision that we will protect and support, no matter what.
The contract we made available online has all additions and deletions and must be voted on by the membership. Through the IAM Constitution, we ensured that any contract must be voted on and ratified (accepted by) the membership. The true power is in your hands. Right where it is supposed to be. We have secured all that we could in bargaining short of a strike. The membership must take it from here.
We will work to empower this membership to stand shoulder to shoulder and have their say in the contract vote scheduled for September 12th. If the membership chooses to strike, we will support you and work to get back into bargaining to resolve the differences.
This vote is scheduled for Thursday, September 12th; look online for locations and times across Puget Sound, Moses Lake, EAFB, Victorville, and those on work assignments away from home.
Our decision on whether to recommend a strike or to recommend acceptance of the contract carried the weight of 33,000 people and their families. You are at the center of this decision.
My goal was to get the most improvements that we could and turn it over to you. The decision to accept or reject is now in your hands, as it should be. I also ask that members treat each other respectfully, as emotions are high. We must stand together; whatever decision the membership makes is the direction we will all go.
After 16 years, we finally got back to the bargaining table to fight for what you deserve and bargain the full agreement. In that time, the world has changed, and so have we. You sent us here to stand strong for your priorities, and we are proud to have done so. The marches, the solidarity, the strength you’ve shown on the floor have fueled us every step of the way.
This contract isn’t just words on paper; it’s a testament to your collective voice. Every demand, every priority that we brought to the table, carried the weight of your strength. The company knew we were only the conduit for your priorities.
Negotiations are a give and take, and although there was no way to achieve success on every single item, we can honestly say that this proposal is the best contract we’ve negotiated in our history.
This offer includes substantial raises, including 25% GWIs over the life of the agreement, job security, and a future for us all. We secured the next commercial airplane program if launched during the life of the agreement, for our members in Puget Sound and Portland. Healthcare cost share is lowered, and retirement security is enhanced by adding an additional employer paid benefit. Members will now have only one set of progression steps in a career, and vacation will be available for use as you earn it. We were able to secure upgrades for certain job codes and improved overtime limits, and we now have a seat at the table regarding the safety and quality of the production system.
Financially, the company finds itself in a tough position due to many self-inflicted missteps. It is IAM members who will bring this company back on track. As has been said many times, there is no Boeing without the IAM. Ultimately, we love this company and couldn’t be more proud of the jobs we do or the products we build. What we do defines who we are - these crafts are our livelihoods. When a plane leaves the factory, it’s our reputation on the line. This proposal helps keep our legacy alive.

That is why your Union Bargaining Committee is recommending accepting this proposal.
We heard our members loud and clear in every email, rally, and conversation. Members stood tall with confidence. Finally, in a position of great leverage, we used every ounce of power we could to go after everything you said was important. We did not get everything we wanted, but you all can be proud of your Strength, Solidarity, and Unity because you have achieved the best contract we have ever had. An agreement that sets the bar for everyone else in the industry to strive for. We know that you all were ready to strike - ready to sacrifice for each other. We are so proud of you. Thank you for sending the message that we needed to give us the leverage to achieve this win.
Take these next few days and look over every change in this proposal prior to your vote on September 12th. Whatever you decide, know that your Union stands with you. We are prepared to fight if needed, but we believe this proposal will benefit all our Members and Our Future.
This vote is now in your hands, as it should be

IAM/Boeing Contract 2024 Negotiations Update - September 6, 2024
It's been 27 days straight that we have been negotiating in the hotel.
We are nearing the end.
We expect the company's last, best, and final offer very soon.
The company and the Union are far apart from reaching an agreement.
We are going to continue bargaining right up until the very end.
We draw our strength and resolve from you, our Members.
Soon, it will be in your hands. The decision will be yours, and yours alone.
IAM/Boeing Contract 2024 Negotiations Update - September 5, 2024
In one week, thousands of IAM 751 and W24 Machinists will gather in our Union Halls to cast a vote that will shape our future.
This is our moment - our opportunity to stand up for what we deserve for our families, our communities, and our country. The world is watching us, and what they see is clear. Workers standing together, unified in purpose, and participating in concerted activities in factories across Puget Sound and Portland. Families preparing, ready to face whatever comes next. Your Union negotiators, fighting day and night, making sure every word in the contract reflects the voices of the Members. Workers in other industries taking note and realizing, they too deserve more.
This negotiation is more than a contract - it's part of the spark reigniting the Labor Movement. We are changing the conversation, and that power comes from you. Whatever success we have is because of our Members. At Local Lodge A meeting tonight, the excitement was palpable, and the solidarity was overflowing.
We believe that we have laid out a path that, if the company follows, will lead to an agreement. The company has the power to do the right thing and meet us where we need to be. Their actions will determine the outcome. We are moving in the right direction, but we're not there yet.
We are down to the wire, and the company's final offer is coming soon. Guided by your voices and with full transparency, we've done everything in our power to negotiate the contract you deserve.
Whatever happens in the next seven days, history will remember where we stood. While others stand for themselves, Machinists stand for everyone. This is Our Future, Our Fight, and we are fighting for you.
IAM/Boeing Contract 2024 Negotiations Update - September 4, 2024
Wages, health care, retirement, and job security have always been top priorities for our Members. But this time, it's different. Our Members have made it clear that they deserve more than the status quo - they deserve a better life and more of a work-life balance.
Work to live, not live to work. That's what every worker should have, but it's not the reality for many, even at Boeing. Our Members are demanding change. Stagnant wages over the last decade, little to no job security, mandatory overtime, and rising costs have made it hard for some to stay afloat. For many, this contract is about making up ground and building for the future, so much more than just surviving.
This contract cycle, the Membership asked for more. Our Members are calling for more time with their families, to rest, and the freedom to live their lives without sacrificing their financial security. Your Union Negotiators are at the table fighting for precisely that. We're pushing hard to reduce or eliminate mandatory overtime so you can choose when you work and when you spend time with the people who matter most. We're demanding more vacation time for everyone and more holidays because you deserve some days off after all the hours you've put in. Our Members have earned the time to rest, recharge, and enjoy memorable days with their families.
Over the decades, our Members have not chosen to strike over wages. We have taken less during lean years, downturns in the market, or sacrificed for other important provisions. This contract is different. We are coming off a long 10-year extension with stagnated wages and increased medical costs while experiencing the highest inflation in over 40 years. Your negotiating committee spent all day working on proposals and waiting for the company's Article 6 proposal on Wages and Seniority progression. The company has not moved enough on wages and has not proposed one set of progressions in a career.
Time is running short. Striking over wages is now a real possibility and would be justified. Our Members deserve better!
This contract is restoring balance, respect, and quality of life for the 33,000 Members and their families who have supported this company through thick and thin. You deserve better.
Time is ticking with just eight days until expiration - the pressure is building. We remain vigilant in presenting our counterproposals and fighting for your priorities. We are still locked in a battle over wages, retirement, medical, work-life balance, and job security, but we have laid out a clear path that we believe, if the company follows, can lead to a successful agreement. Stand Strong!
In Unity,
Your IAM 751 Negotiating Committee

IAM/Boeing Contract 2024 Negotiations Update - September 3, 2024
We hope you enjoyed your Labor Day. Your Union committee was hard at work over the weekend, never missing an opportunity to bring your priorities to the forefront in every discussion with the company.
We are now just nine days away from a vote on a contract proposal we've been waiting 16 long years to see - a comprehensive agreement that honors our work and our sacrifices. Negotiating this 304-page document has been a monumental task, but we're in the final stretch. The stakes couldn't be higher, and we're standing firm. Now, the real question is: will Boeing step up and deliver what you deserve?
Today, IAM District 751 President Jon Holden spoke with Acting U.S. Secretary of Labor Julie Su, giving her a clear picture of where we stand. The gap between our priorities and the company's offers remains wide. We made it clear to Su and her team that this fight isn't just for IAM 751/W24 Machinists but all workers. We're fighting for workers in the past who built our foundation, today's workers who are making it happen on the shop floor, and tomorrow's workers who will carry this industry into the future.
On September 12, the power will be in your hands. Once we receive the company's final offer, we will evaluate whether we can recommend that members accept or reject the proposal. We remain at odds over several items: wages, healthcare, retirement, additional time off, and job security. We have laid out a path with our proposals that could lead to a successful ratification. Boeing has the power to take that path and acknowledge the value that each Member brings to Boeing's success. It's up to Boeing to do the right thing, and each Member will decide if it is enough.
As we prepare for a historic vote on September 12, we are working through every process to make this as smooth as possible for members to vote. While there might be a few bumps, know this: every IAM 751 and W24 Member in good standing will have their vote counted. No one will be left behind. We are doing all we can to make the process go smoothly and quickly. Please be patient, especially with the Local 8 Secretarial Staff and volunteer Members helping us navigate the vote at each location. No one will be disenfranchised - every Member in good standing will be allowed to vote that day, and your vote will be counted.
After the polls close, we'll count every ballot at each hall and announce the results on our website, in the media, and online.
This is our moment to make history. Be proud of what you're doing. The world is watching and waiting to see what September 13 will bring.
September 1st 2024 - Message from IAM District 751 President Jon Holden
Dear Machinist Family,
As I reflect on what Labor Day means to me, I can't help but be moved by watching members of IAM 751 and W24 fight for the respect they deserve, wages and benefits they have earned, and a better life for each other and their families. They are standing up to one of the world's most powerful companies and are not backing down.
You see, Labor Day is a recognition of those who go to work every day and perform tasks, large and small, to keep our economy running. Workers who, while motivated to provide for their families, also take pride in their work, understanding the impact on our society and the value we bring. All work is honorable, and workers deserve our thanks and respect.
IAM members are proud of the work they perform and the airplanes they build. They will often look thoughtfully up into the sky when a Boeing plane flies overhead and wonder aloud to their kids, "Was that one of the airplanes I worked on?"
Members care deeply for this company and only want to see its success. We know the jobs we hold, building these high-tech aircraft with cutting-edge technology, are amazing, and we get to do some really awesome stuff.
We also know that many allies in the community have invested their time, resources, and effort to ensure aerospace thrives in our state. This industry and the jobs we hold have built our communities and remain the economic engine driving our economy. These are jobs that can't be replaced.
That's why our effort for job security and placing the next airplane program here are so important. Members are fighting for their future, and they are working to bring everyone else along with them. This is not just for us; it is about securing work for those who follow in our footsteps, other Boeing employees, and the entire supply chain in our state. We are fighting for everyone.
We are also fighting for respect - the respect we have yet to receive from the company we dedicate our careers to. We are trying to achieve reasonable wage increases that reflect the value we bring and a retirement system that rewards our longevity and skill when we must put down our tools because we can't work any longer.
Our proposals are not only reasonable but essential for stabilizing a company currently in free fall. While leaders come and go, it is IAM members who fabricate, drill, fasten, assemble, and test. It is our IAM members who move the parts, planes, and maintain the machines. We are the lifeblood of the factory. Never forget that there is no Boeing without the IAM.
As we continue bargaining this weekend and through Labor Day, I will maintain focus on our members, the respect they deserve, and the effort to raise the standard for wages, healthcare, retirement, and job security. I am always in awe of the amazing things our members do and will gain strength from their collective voice that we have upheld, front and center, at the bargaining table.
I wish every member of the IAM and all workers across our community a well-deserved rest on a day meant to honor your hard work. Happy Labor Day, Brothers and Sisters.
IAM/Boeing Contract 2024 Negotiations Update - August 31, 2024
As our Members and the country enjoy their holiday weekend - thanks to the relentless efforts of the Labor Movement - your Union negotiators remain at the table, dedicated to securing the contract you deserve.
This morning, we delivered our counterproposal on wages, giving Boeing the opportunity to make meaningful progress this weekend. We are standing firm on the priorities you have emphasized. As we approach September 12, it's essential to remind you of what lies ahead.
While we have not yet reached an agreement, we anticipate that Boeing will drop its comprehensive offer promptly to the workforce once it is offered to us. Following this, Boeing will likely launch an intense marketing campaign to sell their proposal. Your Bargaining Committee will prepare the contract so that you can see all the changes and additions to the agreement. At that time, we will make a recommendation, and the decision will be in the Members' hands. Prepare to dive deep into the proposal, analyze the numbers, and determine its true impact on you and your family. Lean on your Union stewards and leaders for clarity on any uncertain items. Don't allow the company to dictate what's best for you - stay vigilant and ready to make your voice heard on the 12th.
We are on the right side of history in this fight. Our communities stand with us because they recognize that our success at the bargaining table raises the bar for everyone. Our fight is for everyone - from engineers and salaried workers to non-represented, the supply chain, and everyone in between who has had a hand in making this industry successful.
The company leadership making decisions at the top is detached from the realities on the shop floor, where our Members bring these magnificent flying machines to life. Securing the next airplane program in these negotiations is crucial because only our Members possess the skill and dedication to make that future a reality.
In Unity,
Your IAM 751 Negotiating Committee

Note on Picket Assignments: Approximately 12,000 picket card assignments were mailed today. You may not be in the first rotation if you don't get your picket assignment in the next week or so. Picket card assignments do not indicate a strike will happen but are an essential step in preparing if our Members vote to strike. There's a QR code on the card that you can scan to change your assignments. More information on the contract vote and the IAM Debit/Strike Card Distribution will be forthcoming.
IAM/Boeing Contract 2024 Negotiations Update - August 30, 2024
Our Members have always been proud of their work and the products we build at Boeing. It's why the workforce is so passionate about these negotiations. We respect the products and the company we have built. What we do on the job defines who we are - these crafts are our legacy. When a plane leaves the factory, it's our reputation on the lines. That's why we expend our energy marching on the shop floor, using our right to participate in concerted activities to loudly tell the company that we are the solution. That is also why we go through the arduous process of bargaining.
Today, we passed counterproposals for Facilities Maintenance Subcontracting (LOU 2), Work Placement (LOU 42), and 777X Work Placement (LOU 43), ensuring work stays in Puget Sound and Portland. We received counterproposals from the company on health care (Attachment A and B) and wages (Article 6). While they made some minor concessions, we still do not see eye-to-eye on wages.
It is their workforce - our Members - who prioritized wages as one of the most critical issues for this Union committee to address. Let us be clear: we are the Membership's voice at the table. We negotiate based on their priorities and concerns. We've been given a mandate from the shop floor on what we need to focus on. One issue does not come at the expense of another - but higher wages remain a critical component in these negotiations.
No worker will soon forget it's been ten years, not three or four since we last negotiated the full agreement. During that time, our Members had little to no input into the company's decisions. Workers' voices were often ignored when quality issues, like removing inspections, came to light. Workers had no vote when the company spent money on stock buybacks and CEO salary increases. No one asked us what they thought when the company moved work away or tried to subcontract our jobs.
Today, IAM 751 and W24 Members have a voice, and they are making sure it resonates across Puget Sound and Portland. We aren't going to pay for the company's mistakes, again. We just want a reasonable share of that wealth we helped create.
IAM/Boeing Contract 2024 Negotiations Update - August 29, 2024
When we are waiting on proposals from the company, your Union committee works tirelessly on the unresolved issues. Today, our focus was on LOU 2, which pertains to Facilities Maintenance Subcontracting. Our Members who perform maintenance have watched their jobs turned over to contractors for years. Our goal is to grow our Facilities Maintenance crafts and maintain the jobs for the life of the agreement. Negotiating this LOU is about fortifying our language to ensure we maintain and expand our workforce.
Additionally, we had some frank discussions with the company regarding wages. We remain far apart, but we are committed to closing the gap.
In addition, we are including a flyer in tonight's message on Unfair Labor Practices (ULPs). The old saying applies here: "If you see something, say something." Management has no right to intimidate, threaten, or interrogate Members about their thoughts on the contract. In fact, they don't even have the right to ask you about the contract. If you experience any such behavior, you should immediately contact your Union Steward or Business Representative and email the Union at ULP@iam751.org with all the details.
Our strength lies in our unity and determination. Together, we will ensure our voices are heard, and our rights are protected. We are committed to securing a future where our jobs are safeguarded, and our workforce continues to grow.
IAM/Boeing Contract 2024 Negotiations Update - August 28, 2024
At the table, we remain focused heavily on Article 11 and Attachments A and B on medical benefits and cost share. The Union is sticking to the Membership's priorities by working to lower costs and improve benefits. Our fight continues tomorrow at the bargaining table.
Tonight, we wanted to focus on the voting process and getting Members ready for what will happen on September 12, 2024.
Everett will vote at 2 locations
Kasch Park, 8811 Airport Rd, Everett/8:30 am – 6:00 pm (plenty of parking)
Sno-Isle Tech Skills Center, 9001 Airport Rd, Everett/5:00 am – 6:00 pm (walking voters only)
Renton, 233 Burnett Ave N, Renton/5:00 am – 6:00 pm
Seattle, 9135 15th Pl S, Seattle/5:00 am – 6:00 pm
Auburn, 201 A St SW, Auburn/5:00 am – 6:00 pm
Pierce County Skills Center – 16117 Canyon Rd East, Puyallup/5:00 am – 6:00 pm
Moses Lake, Grant County Fairgrounds, 4-H Building, 3953 Airway Drive, NE, Moses Lake/5:00 - 6:00 pm
EAFB, 240 W. Fitzgerald Blvd, Building #6001/1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Again, voting in Everett will be at 2 locations: Walk-in voting at Sno-Isle Tech Skills Center will work well for any Members walking over from the factory. At the same time, Kasch Park has lots of parking for those driving.
Please bring your eligibility card and Boeing badge or other Photo ID to be able to vote on September 12, 2024. You can vote with your Boeing badge or Photo ID.
You will cast two ballots that day, one for the contract and one to strike or not. You will vote on both actions.
Members will cast two ballots that day, one to accept or reject the contract and one to reaffirm a strike. Whether you vote to accept or reject the company's contract offer, we advise members to vote YES on the strike ballot to give the authority to the majority if the contract is rejected. Please remember, if a majority of members vote to reject the contract but less than two-thirds vote to strike, the contract is accepted by default. The Union cannot call a strike. That's why you must vote on both actions.
For more information, check out our website at iam751.org or the September Aero Mechanic for more details. For further questions, please reply to this email or email us at info@iam751.org.
IAM/Boeing Contract 2024 Negotiations Update - August 27, 2024
In bargaining, your Negotiating Committee builds proposals that represent what was learned from and prioritized by the members. While these proposals are important, they only carry weight because of the Membership on the floor. Our real strength is, and always will be, from the Members on the floor. We hear about the marches, the noise-making, and the show of Solidarity happening across Puget Sound and Portland, and so does the company. Keep up the excellent work.
There are a few weeks left, and we are still hopeful we can come to an agreement, but I have to say that we are still very far apart on wages, retirement, and medical. In going over their counterproposals today in caucus, it was apparent they still aren't hearing what their workforce is saying. Although the company did move a little, they aren't taking into account how long our Members have been waiting to renegotiate this contract.
Ask any Machinist, and they will tell you they have been waiting far too long to get back to the table to address the stagnated wages, a commitment to the future, retirement options that aren't close to the pension they took away - the list goes on and on. We are in unprecedented territory, and there's no model to point to for reference because the last time we bargained the full agreement was 16 years ago. There are dozens of issues members want to address, and the company needs to listen and respect the workers who have made them successful for decades.
Yesterday and today, we held picket captain training in Everett and Seattle, and we are so proud of our Members who are standing up and taking charge. No matter what happens at the table, we need to be ready ahead of time in case our Members decide to strike. We are prepared and will be in full force if that happens.
Every day, the company witnesses the strength of 33,000 Machinists on the job, building the world's best airplanes. That's the power we will harness if we all need to grab a picket sign and walk.
Thank you to all the Members who are making a difference.
IAM/Boeing Contract 2024 Negotiations Update - August 26, 2024
Securing the next airline program is not just a priority - it's a necessity for IAM Districts 751 and W24 Members.
Consider this from our perspective: you're on the shop floor, pouring your skills, sweat, and dedication into every aircraft you build. Then, the company assures you, "We promise we won't move any airplane programs out of state." But how can we trust that promise when history tells us otherwise?
In 2003, they threatened to move the 787 out of state unless they got $3.2 billion in tax incentives from the state of Washington, which we helped them get. This airplane was the future, and now it's gone.
In 2011, they threatened to remove the 737 MAX and have it produced elsewhere unless we agreed to a 4-year extension.
Then, in 2013, a year and ten months later, they threatened to take the 777X and build it somewhere else unless we agreed to give up our pensions, stagnate wages, and accept a massive cost shift in healthcare costs onto our Members for ten years.
In 2021, they consolidated the 787 in South Carolina, just like we knew they would once they set up the second line.
We can't allow our Members to be placed in a position where this company will threaten our livelihoods, our families, and the communities where we live the next time they launch a new airplane program. We can't remain at the mercy of a company leadership that won't think twice about forcing you to give up pay, benefits, and your financial security to boost their stock price and bonuses.
Our job security effort is not at the expense of other important improvements. It's increased wages and job security. It's increased insurance benefits and being included in the vision for the future. It's retirement security and jobs for our Members and those who follow.
We have been the backbone of this company, keeping it airborne through the toughest of times. We've weathered every storm; now it's time for the company to stand by us.
Washington State has bent backward to support Boeing, pouring billions into incentives and infrastructure, ensuring the company has everything it needs to succeed. The state and the Machinists have invested countless resources in the education and training of aerospace workers, building a workforce that is second to none. We've developed a robust and reliable supply chain that Boeing relies on to maintain its competitive edge.
This is not like past negotiations, and there is more at stake. We've done our part, and it's time for the company to do theirs.
The expiration is fast approaching.
Tick Tock…
In Unity,
Your IAM 751 Negotiating Committee

IAM/Boeing Contract 2024 Negotiations Update - August 25, 2024
The jobs IAM 751 and W24 Members work aren't easy - both mentally and physically. A lot of our Union brothers and sisters have sacrificed the health of their bodies to make the best damn planes in the world. That sacrifice deserves health care that takes care of them when they need it most.
Today, we reviewed the company's latest counteroffer on medical and other insurance benefits in Attachments A&B and Article 11. We have seen movement and made progress against their concessionary proposals, moving them in the right direction. However, we continue to propose improvements that reflect the areas Members identified as important. We are not in agreement yet. Healthcare services and the associated costs impact every Member and their families and warrant the time we have spent to make improvements. We will continue to make the case these benefits are just as crucial to the workforce as wages, job security, and retirement security.
We are proud to represent you and even prouder to hear about the marches and other concerted activities that Members are engaged in at every site on all shifts. Your voice will make the difference as the power of our Union is on the shop floor, on every flightline, and at every site. The company needs to listen to you and make the improvements to secure an agreement. It's time to show workers the respect they have earned and deserve.
Workers on the factory floors from Everett to Victorville, CA, and every shop in between possess incredible power. Your knowledge and skills should be honored with a contract that improves every item essential and valuable to you and your loved ones. You deserve wages, retirement, improved medical, job security, and every other item - nothing less. The company wants a commitment from us; we deserve the same from the company.
We will have our first picket captain training tomorrow in Everett as we gear up for the fight ahead if necessary. We will be ready; we won't give in; we will succeed together.
In Unity,
Your IAM 751 Negotiating Committee

IAM/Boeing Contract 2024 Negotiations Update - August 24, 2024
Recently, IAM District 751 participated in the NTSB investigative hearings regarding the Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 door plug accident on January 5, 2024. We believe this is the right path as we were named as a party to the investigation, and the NTSB is focused on determining the root cause to strengthen the production system.
No one understands safety better than the very workers who meticulously build these planes every single day. That's why we must have a voice in the company's safety initiatives, as our livelihoods depend on it. Our Members are experts - they know how to build the best airplanes in the world, and they are the ones who will bring this company back on track.
We spent Saturday drafting and proposing a new safety and quality framework that provides Union involvement and input into the Quality Management System, ensuring we protect the integrity of our production system. We know that the only way to ensure Boeing makes the right decisions is to have a seat at the table when critical decisions about quality, safety, and new product developments are made. Having a voice at the highest levels can and will influence changes. That's what we are trying to do in this contract. We are proposing these articles for the first time in our history and know that our Members' voice is critical in this effort.
This is Our Future, Our Fight. We are in this fight for higher wages, for job security, for the ability to care for our families - today and tomorrow. We fight because our members deserve nothing less.
In Unity,
Your IAM 751 Negotiating Committee

IAM/Boeing Contract 2024 Negotiations Update - August 23, 2024
For years, we've heard from our Membership that higher wages are one of the top priorities for IAM 751 and W24 Members. Considering how our Members' take-home pay has stagnated over the last decade, it's no surprise. Meanwhile, we've watched a series of CEOs come and go, making short-term decisions with long-term consequences that have hurt the company, the workforce, and our communities - yet they've left with millions in cash, bonuses, and stocks. On top of that, the company has spent tens of billions on stock buybacks and dividends and paid billions in criminal fines.
These issues have been making headlines for years. But what hasn't made the headlines is the company's failure to invest in its most valuable asset: its workforce.
Every product that rolls off the factory floor may have Boeing's name on it, but each plane carries the heart and soul of every IAM 751 and W24 Member who built it. We are the ones who will make things right for this company today, tomorrow, and in the future.
Today, we countered Article 6 (Rates of Pay), and our proposal remains aggressive. After receiving an unacceptable wage counter from the company a few days ago, we had to remind them at the table that our Members have already made sacrifices that justify our proposed increases.
Wages are about more than just base pay increases. We continue to fight for improved progression, increased minimums and maximums on labor grades, higher pay additives, and a COLA formula that captures more of the actual inflation we all feel.
While we can't share specifics from the table in these updates - since nothing is settled - we can tell you that we don't believe the company is addressing your top concerns in their offers. It's time for Boeing to make good on their promises and take care of the workforce that keeps this company running.
Our Members have done their job; we need to see proposals that reflect your hard work.
IAM/Boeing Contract 2024 Negotiations Update - August 22, 2024
Health care was today's focus, revealing a stark contrast in our approaches to caring for the workforce. While your Union continues to prioritize our Member and retiree mandates of lowering out-of-pocket costs, the company continues its goal of increasing costs. We continue to pass language back and forth without reaching an agreement on major issues.
When Members dedicate their career to the company and the aerospace industry, they should not have to worry about escalating costs in their healthcare plan for them and their families.
For many items in this part of the contract, it's about equity. We also should have short-term and long-term disability plans equal to all other Boeing employees at the company. Many of our jobs are physically demanding and take a toll on us over time, and our Members deserve to protect their finances while out on medical leave - to focus on healing in order to get back to work. The company should recognize this and provide our Members the same benefits as other employees.
We also focused on the latest wage proposal, which fell far short of our Member's expectations. After being stagnated for the last ten years, our Members have earned and deserve to receive industry-leading increases. We need to see significant movement on GWIs from the company for all our Members.
Our Members deserve better, and we will continue to push the company on your behalf.
IAM/Boeing Contract 2024 Negotiations Update - August 21, 2024
Your Union passed its comprehensive proposal on March 8, 2024. That was nearly six months ago, and the expiration is fast approaching. The company did respond to our Quality and Safety proposal for additional involvement in the Quality Management System. It is good they are listening to your negotiators on this. However, the company and the Union are still far apart on Wages, Healthcare, Retirement and Job Security. ALL ARE IMPORTANT!
We've been at this for months now, and it's no longer the time for the company to be posturing or holding back.
Your Union has been very clear that our Membership has driven the proposals we are passing at the bargaining table. Our Members have gone far too long without meaningful wage increases; those wages have also been chipped away by massive inflation, increased healthcare costs, and diminished retirement since losing the pension. It's been far too long, and it's time for this company to recognize the value of the work our Members perform.
According to the website, Boeing's mission is to protect, connect, and explore our world and beyond. The company cannot do that without IAM 751 and W24 Members. It's time for the company to get serious about its future and what it wants to accomplish. So far, the economic proposals have been disappointing and have missed the mark.
There is a path forward together, but so far, they don't seem to recognize that it's been 16 years that its workforce has been sacrificing for this company. It's time to show some respect to the workers who have kept Boeing flying.
IAM/Boeing Contract 2024 Negotiations Update - August 20, 2024
Today, we received counterproposals from the company on Attachment A Medical, Attachment B Retiree Medical, and Article 11 Group Benefits. We will work to identify the differences between our proposals, but the company continues to propose a higher cost share for our Member's medical coverage. Additionally, we passed an information request on a newly proposed healthcare system that could be available in the future. We also discussed jurisdictional language and job security, which directly impact our proposals for Article 21.7 (Subcontracting), LOU 2 (Facilities Maintenance), LOU 42 (Work Placement), and LOU 43 (777x Work Placement).
The company must address these critical issues in a meaningful way. We've emphasized daily that our Members have lived under the current contract for the past 16 years and are serious about their proposals. After squeezing every concession possible out of their workers in 2014 for short-term gain, Boeing should have anticipated that the time would come when workers would demand what they deserve. Now, our Members are willing to fight to improve all areas of our agreement.
It's long overdue for Boeing to invest in the people who will once again bring this company back on track. The focus should shift from short-term gains to long-term investments in the very workforce who built, and will continue to build, this company's value and wealth.
We should be talking about improvements to our agreement, not concessions. Our Members deserve better, and the company should recognize that it needs the IAM Membership to right this ship.
Lastly, your Union is preparing to distribute IAM District 751 Debit Cards for potential strike pay, if necessary. We will soon provide details on when and where you can pick up these cards based on your mailing address. Please make sure your mailing address is up to date by clicking this link.
IAM/Boeing Contract 2024 Negotiations Update - August 19, 2024
This morning, your Union negotiators took some time to assess our progress and focus on what remains to be done. With a 304-page contract, we're meticulously reviewing every detail - refining language, building counterproposals, and always keeping member priorities at the forefront.
To date, we've already presented all the major issues - Wages, Pension, 401(k) improvements, Job Security, Progression, Healthcare, and more - but the company's responses have yet to meet your expectations. Therefore, we persist in our negotiations.
While we've tentatively agreed on many smaller issues, the most significant items are still on the table, awaiting the company's response. We will not accept a simple "not interested" from the company on any major item without reasserting our proposals - this fight is too important.
Whether you're a new hire or a seasoned veteran, your voice drives our efforts at the bargaining table. Again, our members deserve better, and we will continue pushing for the best contract we can accomplish. Our success is something that we will achieve together.
IAM/Boeing Contract 2024 Negotiations Update - August 17, 2024
Today, we refined and submitted counter proposals on crucial Letters of Understanding (LOUs) covering topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), AOG assignments, Tech Prep students, Job Classifications, and the AMPP incentive program.
Throughout the day, we met with Boeing multiple times, exchanging proposals and engaging in discussions. The AMPP program, in particular, was a major focus. We're pushing hard to reshape this incentive plan to reflect fairness, transparency, higher payouts, and real value for our members. We aim to secure guaranteed minimum payouts, with the potential to earn more based on clear, achievable metrics.
Retirement security also took center stage in today's caucus. We talked
extensively about retirement security, including the 401k plan, the pension plan, and the Machinists Savings Retirement Plan. So far, the company's proposals fall drastically short of what our members deserve. We refuse to back down. There's too much at stake - for everyone. This is a fight we cannot and will not lose.
For the first time in our history, IAM District 751 is also making safety and quality improvements a part of these negotiations. We won't be bystanders in decisions that impact our lives and livelihoods. We want a proactive role in the company's safety management system and quality controls. This isn't just about protecting what we have - it's about saving the company.
This evening, your Union Negotiators are taking a short break to do some laundry and reconnect with family before returning to the table. Tomorrow marks the end of the first full week of round-the-clock bargaining, and while progress has been made, we still have a long way to go.
This is where your solidarity is crucial. Let Boeing know, loud and clear, what you stand for. Talk to your neighbors, your friends, and your community. Make sure they understand why we fight and what's at stake. Tell your kids and grandkids that we will do everything in our power to secure a future as strong and bright as the one that was fought for us.
Our fight is just, our proposals are fair, and our unity remains unbreakable.
IAM/Boeing Contract 2024 Negotiations Update - August 16, 2024
Your negotiating committee has completed our fifth day of daily bargaining, and we continue to push the membership's priorities forward.
Today was all about Article 6, including General Wage Increases, COLA, Pay Additives, and other economic goals. We made it clear that our members' take-home pay has stagnated over the last decade. The COLA formula has not kept up with inflation. We have experienced the highest inflation in 40 years. Our members deserve better, and we will continue to propose aggressive increases in all areas.
Our members need to earn enough money for housing in one of the most expensive areas in the country, feed their families, and pay for health care and essential items like car payments and daycare. The company can't be successful without you. They need to recognize your value in order to get this company back on track together. It's time you received your fair share.
We have spent the last ten years working to regain our strength and unify our membership. The last time the company had the leverage, they used it to squeeze every last drop from our members. To stagnate wages, demand a 10-year agreement, and threaten us with moving our work. When they had the leverage, the company didn't let up. Our members have waited ten years to be in a position of strength, and we are ready to use it.
Tomorrow is another day, and we will continue to push your priorities.
For the first time, IAM District 751 President Jon Holden and District W24 President Brandon Bryant had the opportunity to meet with Boeing's new CEO, Kelly Ortberg, between today's bargaining sessions. While Ortberg may not be sitting at the bargaining table, his influence on the negotiation process is undeniable.
Holden wasted no time in making the membership's priorities crystal clear. Our members have endured years of wage stagnation and crushing inflation. It's time for wages that reflect our hard work and the rising cost of living. Retirement security is critical to our members and Boeing must fund a larger share of the retirement contributions going forward. The burden of skyrocketing healthcare costs is unacceptable, and it's time for the company to shoulder its share of responsibility. Our members are determined to be heard regarding safety, quality, and the overall health of the manufacturing system. However, it was job security that dominated the conversation.
Holden delivered a powerful message to Ortberg: We will not allow our Machinists to be put in a position where the company can threaten to move work away from our members like they did in 2003, 2011, 2014, and 2021. This contract must guarantee the next airplane program stays in Puget Sound. Our future, our families' futures, depend on it. Boeing cannot rebuild the trust it shattered over the last two decades unless it commits to securing these jobs right here, where they belong.
Ortberg knows that we can't rewrite the past, but we can work on a path forward in the future. We fully expect him to include the members of District 751 and W24 in the vision for the future. Only this can reignite the spirit and success of this company and breathe life back into a legacy that once made Boeing the pride of American industry.
Boeing recently claimed that our take-home pay grew by 60% from 2013 to 2023, which was misleading at best.
The company included the AMPP bonuses as over 40% wage growth during this time. While the AMPP has been a very important part of our annual income, it is a one-time payment that does not compound annually. The AMPP bonus has averaged 3.7% over this period, and while important, it shouldn't be calculated this way.
It is essential to also look at the company's information on wage replacement in retirement. The most misleading information is that they use the Employees Wage Deferral Contribution, Social Security, and Retiree Medical to make their numbers work. The smallest share under their system is the company's contribution. Our members lost the MAJORITY of their retirement security when the Boeing Pension was taken away. Members deserve retirement security, and Boeing needs to fund a larger share of your retirement.
This is why the Union continuously checks the data. This company will continue to release misleading or, in some cases, purely false information to attempt to garner your support. We will present you with facts so you can decide for yourself.
After a full day of bargaining yesterday, your Union presented counter-proposals on Group Benefits, Article 11, and Retiree Medical (Attachment B) today, all with the goal of cutting costs and increasing access for our members and their families. We dedicated hours reviewing all the memorandums of understanding and actions attached to the current agreement to determine if they remain valid, should be extended, or if no action is needed.
To retain a quality, skilled workforce for the future, the company must listen to its workers and offer proposals that reflect the demands heard in your shop floor marches, voiced in daily member emails, posted on social media, and conveyed by Union Stewards and Business Representatives from the factories. Higher wages, job security, secure retirement, and a better work-life balance are unifying our members and sending a clear message to the company. Both sides hear it - now is the time for the company to start listening.
Today marked the first full day of round-the-clock bargaining at the hotel. We remain focused on the issues you told us were important. The company passed their first economic proposal and as it’s the first day of bargaining, it’s no surprise, we are far from reaching agreement. We continue to stand strong on our proposals for many items including wages, retirement, and health care.
To date, the company refuses to offer long-term job security for our Members. We can’t forget 2003, 2011, and 2013 when they threatened to move whole airplane programs to other states. Our Members and our communities have earned and deserve a commitment from this company as we can only be successful together.
The company's recent claims of nearly 60% increases in take-home pay for IAM 751 and W24 Members over the last decade are misleading - no one has seen that kind of increase in their take home pay.
Trust one source for accurate information - Your Union. We will continue to be straightforward and keep you properly informed as quickly as possible.

Today, we received counterproposals from the company on Attachment A Medical, Attachment B Retiree Medical, and Article 11 Group Benefits. We will work to identify the differences between our proposals, but the company continues to propose a higher cost share for our Member's medical coverage.
