Update July 31, 2020 –Today, nearly 3500 members had their last day on the payroll. As our membership continues to be negatively impacted by the global pandemic, we will continue to offer resources to those experiencing layoff.
Today, we received the list of 60-day WARN notices issued to 602 of our members by Boeing. 236 of them were reWARNs (meaning the member was already holding a WARN notice, effectively extending their layoff date to October 2nd).Click here to view the new list.
On the jobs that weren’t offered voluntary layoffs, but now are experiencing involuntary layoffs, our Union requested Boeing initiate voluntary layoffs in those classifications. The Company has refused and unfortunately, this is not a contractual requirement.
We encourage any members holding a WARN notice to download our updated Facing Layoff brochure that contains a lot of information and answers to many of the questions we have received. We have updated the booklet with information on Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) which was approved on June 30. The electronic version above has links to many resources you can explore.
On July 1, we learned that the U.S. Department of Labor approved our Trade Adjustment Assistance. Click here to learn more.
We also encourage anyone holding a WARN notice to attend an IAM Rapid Response Live Webinar that includes representatives from WorkSource and Unemployment insurance to answer your questions. Members can participate in this live webinar during work hours, as Boeing provides those holding a WARN notice 5 hours to learn about available resources and participate in these activities. Below is a list of the webinar schedule for August.
