NEW June 15, 2021 NOTE: Washington State announced the job search requirement goes back into effect in July. Begin job search activities the week of July4-July10, and report them each week starting July 11. The State will be updating the job search requirements page in the next few days with more information.

NEW June 4 2021 - FREE Extended Cobra Coverage Under American Rescue Plan Act
As a laid-off member, you may be eligible for extended COBRA coverage under the American Rescue Plan Act, which could provide coverage from April 1 to Sept. 30 with no monthly premium contributions required. Boeing mailed instructions on how to activate this earlier this week (click here to view mailing) Note: To be eligible for this coverage you must not be eligible for Medicare and must not be eligible for coverage under any other group health plan such as a plan sponsored by a new employer or a spouse’s employer. You have 60 days from the day you receive the mailing to activate coverage that is retroactive to April 1.

NOTE: If you elect this coverage, you will need to select if you want coverage beginning 4/1/21 (at no cost under the American Rescue Plan Act) OR if you want to enroll all the way back to your prior coverage date (which is not covered by the American Rescue Plan Act so members would bear the cost of COBRA unpaid premiums if you elect this option). It is important to answer this question correctly.

Please share this information with other laid-off members in case they don’t see the mailing.

Several laid-off members reported long wait times when calling Worklife and went online to enroll. Below are the steps they used to enroll online

    Sign into Worklife:

    • Under Quick Access, Click Health & Insurance Benefits
    • Click View & Update my Benefits
    • Then in upper right hand corner next to the profile and search, there is a red circle with a number, this is your message center. Under message center, Click enrollment for COBRA
    • Here it explains your monthly cost for medical is zero. At the bottom it asks if you want to enroll, click yes which brings up a new page explaining what happens next and notes you should print a copy for your records.
    • A confirmation will be emailed and you are enrolled in this extended COBRA retroactive to April 01, which will expire Sept. 10th

After layoff, you MUST file for your Category A recall rights through Worklife. This can be difficult to navigate so we are providing a step-by-step pdf to assist you. File ONLY for the jobs and locations you are willing to accept. Be aware that after recall, it will be a minimum of one year before you are allowed to transfer locations. Click here for the pdf.

NEW April 14, 2021 Potential Job Opportunities at Blue Original for Laid-off Members: Blue Origin, the Kent-based rocket maker, is looking to hire more than 80 skilled technicians and machinists in Washington State.
